Episode 12 recap: Wang Hai broke up with Shan Shan.
Liang Jing learned that Li Yan was forced to leave the company, so she intentionally gave Li Yan a card with enough money to sustain her during her job search period. Li Yan returned the favor by informing Liang Jing that the company was now broke and unable to pay its debts. Liang Jing immediately passed this information to General Song, and Wang Hai was once again pressured for payment. After much persuasion, General Song agreed to give him three more days.
Liang Jing and Liu Xing had dinner together outside. Liang Jing recalled the excitement she felt when she first got accepted into the television station. She didn't want to remain a resentful woman and desired to rediscover her past self. Liu Xing thought Liang Jing had always been beautiful, and her elegance still shone through. His admiration overwhelmed Liang Jing, but at that moment, Wang Hai called her, urging her to come home early.
Wang Hai saw Liu Xing accompanying Liang Jing home and felt a sense of crisis. In order to get Liang Jing's money, he showered her with attention and convinced her to mortgage their house for a loan. Shan Shan had been calling and messaging Wang Hai, but her attempts were met with silence. Frustrated, she went to the company the next day to look for Wang Hai. To her surprise, Wang Hai, who was eager to distance himself from her, had the security guards drag her away. This deeply upset Shan Shan, and she went alone to the seaside to drink, recalling what Liang Jing had said about being the woman who could determine Wang Hai's success or failure. She realized that she was nothing more than a pitiful mistress. Considering Wang Hai's deteriorating attitude towards her, Shan Shan grew increasingly anxious and resolved to make both Wang Hai and Liang Jing regret their actions.
