Episode 15 recap: King Qi's Feigned Death Exposes Prime Minister Liang.
King Qi and Li Yuer arrived at the tavern and sat down. Li Yuer asked King Qi to have tea first while her elder brother arrived later. After King Qi drank a sip of tea, he felt something was amiss and realized the tea was poisoned. Li Yuer coldly told King Qi that sometimes good intentions can turn into accidents. After speaking, Li Yuer drew a dagger and lunged at King Qi.
King Qi asked her why she wanted to harm him. Li Yuer claimed that she had no choice and immediately stabbed King Qi with the dagger. Chen Biyuan hurriedly arrived and witnessed the scene. Overwhelmed, she fainted. Chen Biyuan was taken back to the royal mansion, where Mu Yuan and Cong Tou Suan Ban anxiously surrounded her. Mu Yuan had also been rendered unconscious by the smoke in Li Yuer's room and was unaware of what had transpired. Everyone planned to find the prince, but when Chen Biyuan regained consciousness, she sorrowfully said, "There's no need to search; the prince is dead..."
At night, white silk and black curtains adorned King Qi's residence. Chen Biyuan, accompanied by her family, kept vigil for King Qi, watching them weep and mourn. Liang, who had been secretly observing from a distance, finally let go of his worries. Li Yuer, by his side, requested that he fulfill his promise and release her father. Liang presented a secret letter and a token, instructing her to seek the King of Runan for assistance.
Upon returning to his residence, Liang felt a sense of satisfaction for eliminating King Qi, his long-standing adversary. Suddenly, King Qi's subordinate, Zhao Fengpan, stood before him. King Qi listed the various crimes of treason, betrayal, and the murder of a prince committed by Prime Minister Liang. After making sure that Zhao Fengpan was indeed a living person and not a ghost, Liang remained calm and unflustered. He openly admitted that what King Qi said was true, so what? Did he think that King Qi was anything more than a trapped beast within his own residence? Liang hurriedly called for his men to capture King Qi, but there was no response from the surroundings. Fear gripped Liang's heart, and he shouted even louder for his men.
At that moment, the Emperor emerged from behind the screen, accompanied by his entourage.
