Episode 3 recap: Promise's heart was in turmoil.
Promise's grandmother fell ill, and Promise anxiously took her to the hospital. Coincidentally, Zhao Jin's sister was also hospitalized due to illness, and the two encountered each other once again. Zhao Jin helped Promise take care of her grandmother, while Promise helped Zhao Jin take care of Zhao Jin's sister. When Zhao Jin's sister saw Promise, she was delighted and asked if Promise was her brother's girlfriend. Promise directly denied it. At the same time, Promise's grandmother asked Zhao Jin if he was single. Upon learning that Zhao Jin was single, she was very pleased, especially when she heard that Zhao Jin had no aversion to the fact that he had been divorced.
On the other hand, Peng Yu'an woke up and fell from the sofa to the floor, coincidentally seeing Cong Shan sitting on the sofa making fun of him. Peng Yu'an felt a little flustered. Cong Shan told Peng Yu'an that because he had drunk too much last night, he stayed at her place. She also informed Peng Yu'an that when he was drunk, he had verbally agreed in front of her parents that they could give their relationship a try. Upon hearing this news, Zhao Jin felt a headache and told Cong Shan in front of Peng Yu'an that he would not leave Promise.
Cong Shan, on the contrary, understood Peng Yu'an very well. She believed that if Peng Yu'an easily left his girlfriend whom they had loved for many years, it would show a lack of emotional depth. Peng Yu'an went to work at the martial arts gym and learned about Zhao Jin's situation from his colleagues. Shi Ran went to the pet hospital to pick up her cat. Promise's grandmother's surgery time was also determined, and after learning about it, Promise decided to finish work and go to the hospital. After hanging up the phone, Promise saw the message sent by Peng Yu'an but chose not to pay attention to it.
Shi Ran found Promise because she learned that Promise and Zhao Jin had known each other for a long time. She inquired about Promise's thoughts because she suspected that Promise might have some issues. However, at that moment, Shi Ran received a business-related call and had to leave for work. Zhao Jin came to the hospital to visit his sister, and his sister asked about Promise's whereabouts.
Zhao Jin's sister's condition was very serious, and initially, it had to be relieved through medication. If that didn't work, a bone marrow transplant would be necessary. Zhao Jin sat in the hospital courtyard feeling depressed, and Promise came to visit her grandmother and noticed Zhao Jin's gloomy mood. Since Shi Ran had some matters to attend to in another city, she wanted to temporarily board her cat at Promise's house. Promise had no choice but to agree.
Shi Ran was worried about the relationship between Promise and her boyfriend and asked about the relationship between Peng Yu'an and Cong Shan. Promise didn't take it seriously and said that they were just colleagues. Shi Ran then asked about the status between Promise and Zhao Jin. Just as they were discussing, Peng Yu'an arrived to pick up Promise from work and take her out for dinner. He asked why Promise hadn't been answering his calls. Promise lied, saying that she was busy with work. Zhao Jin thought Promise was still upset and took the initiative to apologize and explain.
Promise recalled the time when they had defined their relationship. At that time, they were very happy and in love. But now, it seemed that they were growing apart. Peng Yu'an was always busy with his work, and after they met, there was no longer any passion between them. Promise felt conflicted, but she kept denying her inner thoughts and instead looked forward to Zhao Jin bringing the cat to her home so she could see him.
When Promise heard someone knocking on the door, she became excited and hastily tidied herself up. However, when she opened the door, she was disappointed to find that it was Peng Yu'an. Zhao Jin took out a wedding ring but didn't propose. He said he wanted to give Promise an assurance. Hearing this, Promise felt even more disappointed. At that moment, Zhao Jin brought the cat over. Because Peng Yu'an was present, Zhao Jin and Promise didn't speak to each other. This also left Promise feeling regretful, and the two of them had another conflict over the topic of marriage.
I really don't understand the plot of this drama. The girl has a boyfriend, but the male lead is determined to be the third party and destroy their relationship. Of course, the audience knows that the girl and her boyfriend have a complicated relationship, but from the male lead's perspective, he falls in love with the female lead at first sight.
He knows she has a boyfriend but has no idea about the state of their relationship. He is solely focused on breaking them up. I truly don't understand the values of the screenwriter and director.
Why would they film such a storyline? Is it to encourage people to destroy other people's families and relationships?
If the male lead genuinely liked the female lead but knew she had a boyfriend, he could have kept his feelings to himself and pursued her after they broke up.
That wouldn't have been so off-putting.
The actors' performances are fine, but I really struggle to understand the plot. (This is my personal opinion, and everyone's views may differ.)
