Episode 5 recap: Shiran discovered Xu Nuo's secret.
Shiran came down and took the cat from Zhao Jin's hand. It was then that Peng Yu'an realized that Zhao Jin had planned to come to Xu Nuo's place from the beginning. When Zhao Jin returned home, Xu Nuo called him and asked why he gave all the cats to someone else instead of letting his sister keep one. Zhao Jin didn't answer the question directly but mentioned that Peng Yu'an was also in the car when he gave the cat to Shiran. Xu Nuo realized that Zhao Jin had caught him lying again, and Zhao Jin chuckled on the phone. Xu Nuo asked him why he was laughing, and Zhao Jin considered himself a person who enjoyed laughter. However, Xu Nuo claimed that she hadn't noticed it before.
Zhao Jin's sister, Zhao Qin, recovered from her illness and was discharged from the hospital. Zhao Jin came specifically to bid farewell to Xu Nuo's grandmother, who thanked him for always bringing her meals. Zhao Jin said that as long as his grandmother wanted to eat, he would be ready to cook for her anytime. Zhao Jin drove his sister and father home, and on the way, he remembered what his grandmother had said. A faint smile unconsciously appeared on his face, and Zhao Qin asked him why he was smiling. Zhao Jin quickly concealed it.
Back at home, Zhao Qin saw an empty cat house and felt disappointed, blaming her brother for not keeping one for her. Just then, she heard a cat meowing and realized that her brother had indeed kept one for her. Xu Nuo's mother was busy managing her laundry shop alone, and a customer suggested that she hire some help. However, Xu Nuo's mother said that she couldn't afford to hire anyone for her small shop.
While sewing a button, she accidentally pricked her hand and saw her ex-husband walking past the door. Xu Nuo's mother hurriedly greeted him, but her ex-husband, Ren Jun, didn't stop. Zhao Qin recovered from her illness, and the whole family was happy. Zhao Jin prepared a delicious meal, and Zhao Qin suggested that their father and brother have a drink. After dinner, their father was about to leave, and Zhao Qin packed him a lot of delicious food. She also stuffed a wad of money into his pocket, saying it was from her brother, and repeatedly urged her father not to drink.
Since Zhao Jin had also been drinking, he couldn't personally take his father home, so he called a ride for him. Zhao Jin packed his things and went downstairs, coincidentally meeting Shiran downstairs. It was then that Shiran realized that Zhao Jin lived upstairs all along, and she remembered the times when Xu Nuo wanted to say something but held back. Shiran suddenly understood that Xu Nuo had known all along that Zhao Jin lived there.
Shiran attentively observed Xu Nuo at the flower shop and asked how many secrets she had hidden from her. Xu Nuo continued to play dumb until Shiran expressed her intention to find Zhao Jin. Only then did Xu Nuo tell the truth and assured Shiran that she and Zhao Jin had agreed to be just friends. However, Shiran could see from Xu Nuo's expression that she had already fallen for him, and she warned Xu Nuo that she had gotten herself into trouble. After seeing off a customer, the boss asked Zhao Jin to take a break and mentioned that he could tell Zhao Jin had been very happy lately. The boss asked if he had a girlfriend, but Zhao Jin knew the boss was trying to pry information from him.
At this moment, Dahao came to buy cat food, and Zhao Jin, knowing that he was pursuing a girl, didn't take his money. Dahao invited Zhao Jin to have a meal, and they talked about their thoughts on relationships. Meanwhile, Xu Nuo was also having a meal with her colleagues. She went out to the restroom, and Zhao Jin happened to see her from across the street, so he called her. Xu Nuo, seeing Zhao Jin from across the street, was both surprised and happy. They looked at each other like that, and Zhao Jin wanted to come over, but Xu Nuo hurriedly stopped him. She then quickly went into the restaurant with tears in her eyes.
Shiran found it strange that Xu Nuo took so long in the restroom, but Xu Nuo didn't explain much. Peng Yu'an's mother and Xu Nuo's mother were close friends. Peng Yu'an's mother went to Xu Nuo's mother's laundry shop, and they drank and talked about their lives. Peng Yu'an's parents were going through a divorce, and Xu Nuo's mother advised her to make do with what she had and not to cause any more trouble.
The two mothers started talking about Xu Nuo and Peng Yu'an's marriage, and they decided to push them. Xu Nuo went to Peng Yu'an's company to wait for him. However, when they were about to leave, Shiran called out to Peng Yu'an from behind and handed him his car keys. Peng Yu'an had planned to take Shiran to meet a client, and Xu Nuo had been sulking throughout the meal. Peng Yu'an was thinking that they hadn't been intimate for a long time, and Xu Nuo felt that his words were not in harmony with her feelings.
Peng Yu'an suddenly asked Xu Nuo if she had someone else. Xu Nuo firmly denied it and turned the question back on Peng Yu'an, but he didn't give a definite answer. Zhao Jin decided to follow his heart and do something he wanted to do. So he went to Xu Nuo's workplace, and Xu Nuo was thrilled when she saw him. In the large work environment, the two of them tried to find each other like playing hide and seek.
Just then, Zhao Jin saw Peng Yu'an and quietly left. However, Peng Yu'an had come to surprise Xu Nuo. Xu Nuo took the opportunity to call Zhao Jin, who told her not to find him, or else they could never go back. Disappointed, Xu Nuo got into Peng Yu'an's car. After a long silence, she proposed to Peng Yu'an: Let's get married!
