Episode 3 recap: Chen Ruohua brought her mother to school.

In the following days, Zhao Xiuli seemed like a changed person. She cooked meals for Chen Ruohua every day and reflected on her past favoritism towards male children. Seeing her mother's gradual recovery, Chen Ruohua finally felt relieved. The traffic accident investigation report came out, stating that the driver of the large truck was driving while fatigued and died in the accident. Left behind were the orphaned mother and child, who knelt before Qin Feng and Chen Ruohua, pleading for forgiveness. Neither of them had the heart to demand further compensation from each other.

With the start of the new school year approaching, before leaving home, Chen Ruohua reminded her mother to always carry her phone and keep the volume at maximum. If her mother didn't answer the phone, she would rush back from school immediately. Zhao Xiuli reassured her daughter, but as Chen Ruohua turned to leave, she suddenly treated the household bank card password and items requiring a password as if she were settling her affairs, repeating them to Chen Ruohua. This gave Chen Ruohua a sense of foreboding.

While queuing for ticket inspection, Chen Ruohua worried about her mother and called her again. When her mother didn't answer, she rushed back from the train station. Upon returning home, Chen Ruohua found her mother's phone on the sofa but couldn't find her anywhere. She searched for a long time without success. When she returned home, dragging her weary body, she discovered her mother lying in bed. Seeing Chen Ruohua suddenly return, Zhao Xiuli was also surprised and muttered that there was no food left at home.

Chen Ruohua couldn't bear to leave her mother alone, so she decided to take her to school. In her view, she was no worse off than Anxin. Since Anxin could live well with Aunt Dayi, she believed she could take care of her mother as well. Before leaving with her mother, Chen Ruohua went to see Aunt Dayi again, but Anxin still refused to see her. Zhao Xiufang sighed and said that Anxin didn't want others to see her imperfections.

Knowing that Chen Ruohua was going to take her mother to school, Zhao Xiufang initially wanted to remind her of the challenges they would face. However, considering her sister's current condition and the fact that she needed constant care, she could only comfort Chen Ruohua, saying that there would be a way forward. She originally wanted to say goodbye to Zhao Xiuli, but Zhao Xiuli still regarded her as the one responsible for Chen Ruoxuan's death and refused to forgive her.

Since the amputation, Anxin has been experiencing great difficulty with bowel movements and often gets easily frustrated. For someone whose livelihood depended on dance, her legs were her life. Now that her legs are gone, she doesn't know what meaning there is in living. Fortunately, Qin Feng has stood by her side, visiting the hospital every day to take care of her, which brings her some comfort.

Zhao Xiuli had never been to Beijing before, so when Chen Ruohua suggested taking her to school, she agreed without hesitation. Chen Ruohua is a senior this year, and most of her classmates are busy looking for jobs. Before coming to Beijing, Chen Ruohua informed them about her mother's situation and asked if her mother could temporarily stay in the dormitory. Upon learning about their family's ordeal, several roommates expressed sympathy and understanding. They assured Ruohua that they would provide cover for her and Zhao Xiuli when the authorities came to inspect the dormitory.

At night, Chen Ruohua and her mother sleep on the same single bed. It's a bit cramped, but Chen Ruohua sleeps soundly. She tells her mother that when she was a child, she envied her younger brother because he had their mother to sleep with him. Upon hearing her daughter's words, Zhao Xiuli suddenly realizes how much she owes her daughter. Since her husband's death, she has focused almost entirely on her son. On one hand, it's because Chen Ruohua is obedient and doesn't require much attention, and on the other hand, she has indeed favored her son over her daughter, thinking that girls would eventually marry and it would be good enough if she could afford to send her to college.

Chen Ruohua goes to the counselor and explains her family's situation. The counselor promises to talk to the authorities and arrange for her mother to stay in the dormitory for a week. However, the counselor reminds her that this is not a long-term solution and suggests that she should think of alternative options. A week goes by, and although the counselor hasn't come to chase her mother away, Chen Ruohua still feels deeply worried.
