I couldn't bear to watch it for more than three episodes. The plot is dull and lacks excitement. There's no suspenseful atmosphere either. The second male lead is really ugly, using Song Ci, the ancient forensic examiner, as a mere gimmick. Sun Ze Yuan is totally unsuited for historical dramas. His face is too round, and a more angular face would be more appealing for period dramas. The entire story framework is loose and unfocused. It's just not interesting.

It's a complete disaster! ???????? I don't even want to give it a single star! He Bing's portrayal of Song Ci deserves full marks. Ouyang Zhenhua's portrayal of Song Ci deserves full marks too. Can't they find someone better than this disgraceful actor to ruin a classic old drama by eating a peach? ???????? I can't tolerate it anymore! ????????

Speechless cameo, it took me until the 7th episode to understand the main characters. Can they please stop misleading with the promotion? It's like selling dog meat on the balcony.
Finally, they managed to invite Li Naiwen and Dong Xuan. The actors' looks are truly touching, but Song Ci's performance is over the top.
Only Bai Xueyan and Yin Qiao can still be considered watchable...

I watched a few episodes because of the theme, but it's hard to put into words. The cases are quite boring, and the actors' looks... the costume and makeup department... the male lead's bangs hairstyle is not very suitable, and the supporting roles are even worse. Bai Xueyan, this sister, I've seen her in a few dramas, and she's the only one who's decent.

From this drama, you can see how disgusting the capital of the domestic entertainment industry is. They churn out shitty assembly-line works without putting in the effort to research historical prototypes that could serve as references or learn from the classic performances of their predecessors. They casually make a garbage production, everyone gets their share of money, and they have a good laugh. It's tough for us viewers.

Even though it's a small-scale production, it shouldn't deceive people like this. 1. The PowerPoint transitions are really low-quality. 2. The acting is subpar. 3. The dubbing doesn't match the characters' faces, and the lip-sync is off. 4. The supporting roles are so unattractive. 5. The dialogue is too modernized; I thought the male lead had traveled through time. I reached the sixth episode, but I just can't continue watching it.

The last time I dropped a drama because the actors were too ugly was "New Laughing in the Wind." The time before that was "Painted Rivers and Lakes: The Bad Guy" (not the Li Chun and Cai Wenjing version). This is the third drama I'm dropping because the actors are too ugly. That male second lead, that female second lead, it's just... I didn't even wait for Chen Xin Yu to appear before dropping it! Trust me, just drop it!

The leading actors really hurt my eyes, probably due to my excessive exposure to mediocre performances. Surprisingly, the male lead is the only one worth watching. Everyone's acting feels awkward and inexperienced, but they put in a lot of effort. The plot and cases are decent, but it genuinely feels like they gathered a bunch of extras to film the drama. If you enjoy costume detective stories, you can give it a try with some reservations. My friend was constantly shouting next to me, wondering how it turned out like this! Song Ci's reputation took a hit - it made me laugh.
