Episode 2 recap: Yunjiao realized that she had narrowly escaped death.
Murong Zang returned to his mansion, and the entire place was adorned with lanterns. Yunjiao accompanied Murong Zang back to his mansion, and she was naturally very curious upon seeing such a scene for the first time. Yunjiao mentioned that her favorite thing to watch was fireworks. Murong Zang had two capable assistants by his side named Fugui and An Kang. When Yunjiao heard their names, she couldn't help but laugh. Fugui told Yunjiao that there was no distinction between men and women in this place. Soon after, they prepared to change Yunjiao's clothes, and Yunjiao, being tactful, promptly called Murong Zang "Godfather."
Yunjiao wanted to take the opportunity to leave, but after consulting a fortune teller, she realized that she couldn't leave at all. However, Yunjiao remained skeptical and, that night, tried to use her magical artifact to return to the Fairy Pavilion. To her surprise, she noticed a lit-up area as she was leaving. Driven by curiosity, Yunjiao went to take a look and discovered that Murong Zang was actually offering sacrifices to his father and vowing to take revenge on his enemies. Murong Zang even looked at Yunjiao, which startled her and woke her up from her dream.
Yunjiao couldn't help but complain about why Murong Zang always appeared in her dreams. Little did she know that Murong Zang had already entered the room. Holding a golden needle as a threat, Murong Zang made Yunjiao kneel down and beg for mercy. It seemed that Yunjiao cared a lot about those golden needles. Murong Zang gave Yunjiao the name Jixiang (Auspicious), and in order to keep the golden needles, Yunjiao became very obedient outwardly, but deep down, she was still resentful.
Murong Zang went to meet the Emperor and reported on recent affairs. General Hu, who had a mutual dislike for Murong Zang, sarcastically mocked him. Yunjiao's job in the mansion was to light candles. She learned from her companions that Murong Zang actually suffered from nocturnal madness, hence the need for numerous candles in the mansion. General Hu's daughter, Xueqing, had always liked Murong Zang but was forbidden from visiting the mansion. Xueqing deliberately punished her subordinates, and Yunjiao rushed over to intervene. Yunjiao wanted to argue back, but Xueqing held a dagger and attempted to stab Yunjiao. However, Murong Zang swiftly grabbed the dagger from her hand.
