Episode 22 recap: The Villain and the Good Father.
Since the Emperor determined Mu Rong Cang's stance, his attitude towards Mu Rong Cang changed immediately. He didn't even want Yun Jiao to become a stumbling block for Mu Rong Cang. Mu Rong Cang still wanted to protect Yun Jiao, but the Emperor did not agree.Mu Rong Cang was willing to help the Emperor obtain everything he desired but also wanted the Emperor to set him free. Mu Rong Cang always made his intentions clear to the Emperor, stating that he would always stand by the Emperor's side, no matter what. In reality, everything that happened later was a play acted out by the Emperor and Mu Rong Cang together, just to make others think that they were having a conflict.
The Emperor came to see Yun Jiao, and she felt somewhat disappointed, thinking it was Mu Rong Cang who had come. The Emperor even said that Yun Jiao was Mu Rong Cang's weakness and then planned to take Yun Jiao away so that Mu Rong Cang could make a big move.
It seemed that Mu Rong Cang was about to lead troops to the border, but this operation had to be conducted in secret, so they could only discuss it within the room. The guards were also willing to follow Mu Rong Cang, and with that, Mu Rong Cang immediately set off. Yun Jiao was taken back and subjected to interrogation, in an attempt to find out the whereabouts of the hidden letters. Yun Jiao had been tortured to the point where she was unrecognizable. It was at this moment that the Duke of Zhen Guo suddenly appeared, looking very concerned for his daughter.
In fact, it was the Emperor who intentionally tortured Yun Jiao, not wanting the Duke of Zhen Guo to use her to blackmail Mu Rong Cang. The Duke of Zhen Guo, on the side, watched as the Emperor prepared to burn the letters from his sister and pleaded with him.
