Episode 3 recap: "Illness stems from the mind."
Hu Fei spends every day at home playing games, and his mother scolds him, saying that if he continues to be idle, he should move out. At this moment, her husband comes home and talks about his visit to the doctor today, feeling that life is fragile. He even mentions it to his good friend Lao Zhao. Hu Chen even starts to feel physically uncomfortable at times. During the following period, Hu Chen constantly feels that he is sick, and even loses his appetite every day, lamenting the fragility of life.
The next morning, when Hu Chen went to buy breakfast, he met Lao Zhao's grandson downstairs, who was crying and saying that his grandfather had passed away. Hu Chen was so startled that he dropped all the buns in his hands. When he returned home, Hu Chen felt that his own life was also coming to an end. His good friend, whom he played chess with just yesterday, had passed away today. Even though Hu Xiaoni and He Xiangnan tried to comfort their father, he couldn't listen at all.
Coincidentally, there was a free medical examination in the community. He Xiangnan thought it would be a good idea for his father-in-law to have a check-up. Perhaps if he found out that he wasn't sick, he would feel much better. After this period of time, Hu Chen constantly felt that he was going to die. He even leaned on a cane. Hu Xiaoni found her father in the community garden and tried to comfort him, but he still believed that his health was in a very poor condition.
In order to give her father something to do, Hu Xiaoni bought a projector so he could watch TV at home. She thought that if he kept himself busy, he wouldn't have time to think negatively. However, none of these efforts had any effect on Hu Chen. He still believed that he was sick, and no matter how his family tried to dissuade him, it was futile. Soon, Hu Chen even started using a wheelchair, feeling that his condition was getting worse. As he was speaking, he suddenly collapsed to the ground. Initially, He Xiangnan wanted to play a prank on Hu Chen, but he didn't expect that Hu Chen's mental resilience would be so weak.
After scolding his father-in-law, He Xiangnan apologized to him. When Hu Chen returned home, he arranged everything as if he was preparing for his own funeral. Everyone was deeply saddened when they saw this, and Hu Chen and his wife burst into tears. Hu Chen spoke as if he were giving his last words, expressing his strong desire for them to have a third child.
At that moment, Lao Zhao unexpectedly returned, which frightened Hu Chen, thinking that he had come to take him to hell. However, everyone could see Lao Zhao, and it was later revealed that Lao Zhao hadn't actually passed away but had gone on a trip. Hu Chen suddenly realized this and immediately got up from his chair.
