Episode 14 recap: Miss Wang was transferred to a factory.
As time passed, Ling Zi and A Bao were watching the sunset on the rooftop. Ling Zi asked about his girlfriend's appearance, and A Bao said she had turned into a goldfish and wandered away. A Bao had a breakdown at a restaurant, and Ye Shu said it was the second time he had seen him like this since they met.
A Bao mentioned that before he knew Miss Wang, he had wholeheartedly loved someone else. In 1990, Ling Zi returned to Shanghai with an address and rented the current attic to live in. A Bao visited her for the first time and saw that her house was leaking, so he fixed the roof for her.
Ling Zi specially steamed crabs to treat A Bao and complained about the noisy surroundings. After dinner, the two went to the rooftop to enjoy the view and talked about A Bao's girlfriend who had turned into a goldfish. A Bao came to fix the roof multiple times afterward. A Bao remembered Betty, whom he used to climb the rooftop with and listen to music. He lamented that time had taken away more than just Betty.
When Ye Shu heard that Ling Zi had left, she thought it was a good thing because Night Tokyo was losing money every month. A Bao always wanted to repay Ling Zi's kindness with Night Tokyo. Ye Shu made him realize that he owed not only Ling Zi a favor but also handed A Bao Miss Wang's transfer notice, fearing that Miss Wang would face difficulties in the future.
Director Jin looked at the stamps that Miss Wang had organized for her and still had personal feelings for her. Miss Wang was transferred to a factory. A Bao was worried that Miss Wang, who had been sitting in the office for a long time, wouldn't be able to handle the work at the factory. Before leaving, Miss Wang told Ye Shu that she wanted to meet A Bao one last time, just to find out if she still had any value to him.
When the appointed time came, A Bao didn't show up but went to Tao Tao's place instead. Miss Wang waited until midnight, but A Bao didn't come. She was unwilling to make a phone call but decided against it. On the other hand, A Bao seemed happy playing with Tao Tao on the surface but was in immense pain inside.
After the meeting, A Bao left alone without letting anyone see him off. Tao Tao could tell that A Bao had something on his mind and remembered the last time A Bao was troubled, which was in 1978. A Bao accidentally bumped into a woman on a bus, and his first date with Xue Zhi was at Hong Shun Xing when it was popular for people to gather and eat hot pot together.
