Episode 4 recap: Hao Wei Lai stayed and worked on the farm.
Hao Wei Lai quickly explained that he was there to visit a friend, and to prove that it was his friend's home, he showed some photos taken earlier. However, Kate was not fully convinced. Hao Wei Lai immediately contacted his friend and asked him to explain the situation, which finally clarified that Hao Wei Lai was not a bad person.
Just as Kate was pointing a gun at Hao Wei Lai, Xia Yuan appeared and quickly protected Hao Wei Lai, explaining the misunderstanding. It turned out that Allen had moved to another city three years ago and sold the house. Hao Wei Lai, realizing that he had consumed a lot of food, tried to offer compensation with the only money he had in his pocket, but Mrs. Smith declined.
Hao Wei Lai realized that he was not suitable to stay any longer, so he packed his bag and left. He sat on a chair by the roadside, counting his belongings, and discovered that he was so poor that he couldn't afford a meal. He called Penny and asked her to send him some money, otherwise he would have nowhere to stay tonight. Penny agreed, but Hao Wei Lai then realized that he had lost his wallet. He searched carefully but couldn't find it, so he turned to Xia Yuan for help.
Xia Yuan found Hao Wei Lai and learned that he was starving. She kindly invited him to have a meal, and then brought him back to the farm, asking Mrs. Smith to hire Hao Wei Lai, who had nowhere else to go. Mrs. Smith was initially worried that Kate would not agree, but she couldn't resist the pleas of Xia Yuan and Hao Wei Lai. After confirming that Hao Wei Lai's passport was in order, Mrs. Smith decided to let him stay.
Xia Yuan took Hao Wei Lai to the dormitory. As soon as Hao Wei Lai opened the door, he found his roommate Pete and his girlfriend Mary passionately kissing. He quickly closed the door and introduced himself. After Pete came out, Hao Wei Lai put his luggage in the room and then followed Xia Yuan to familiarize himself with the farm.
Hao Wei Lai had never experienced such a difficult life before. Xia Yuan and Ye Siqi taught him how to feed the cows and milk them. At first, he was not used to it, and the unpleasant smell on the farm made him hesitant. However, with Xia Yuan's encouragement, he soon got used to this lifestyle. One day, while working, Hao Wei Lai saw Ye Siqi and Huo Mingxuan being intimate, which made him feel down. After all, Ye Siqi was the ex-wife of Qiao Bin, and Qiao Bin still had feelings for her.
Ye Siqi and Huo Mingxuan went fishing by the lake, and Hao Wei Lai approached them to prevent them from being alone. Just as he touched the fishing rod, Kate caught them. Kate was unhappy and warned them that fishing was not allowed there, and she punished Xia Yuan by making him move goods in the warehouse.
Ye Siqi knew that it wasn't Xia Yuan's fault, so she argued with Kate about it. However, Kate insisted that Xia Yuan go to the warehouse and move goods. Xia Yuan decided to comply to avoid angering Kate, and Hao Wei Lai and Ye Siqi felt guilty, so they went with Xia Yuan.
Pete and Mary were inseparable every day, which made it impossible for Hao Wei Lai, who shared a room with them, to rest. He repeatedly reminded them of his presence, but they simply ignored him and continued their affectionate behavior in front of him. Hao Wei Lai couldn't sleep at all, so he had to ask Xia Yuan if he could stay with him.
Xia Yuan, considering their past hardships together, allowed Hao Wei Lai to come in. Unexpectedly, in the middle of the night, Hao Wei Lai got scared by a spider and climbed onto Xia Yuan's bed. Xia Yuan was disgusted by this and couldn't find the spider, so he kicked Hao Wei Lai out. Knowing he couldn't offend Ye Siqi and Xia Yuan, Hao Wei Lai climbed onto a chair, turned off the lights, and spent the night like that.
Xia Yuan seized every opportunity to ask the workers about Song Hang Yu. Hearing this, Hao Wei Lai took note of it and deliberately approached Ye Siqi to inquire. He learned that Xia Yuan had come to Europe to find the runaway groom, Song Hang Yu. Hao Wei Lai decided to help Xia Yuan.
On a particular day, Hao Wei Lai borrowed a car from Kate and drove Xia Yuan to find out about Song Hang Yu's whereabouts. They asked many people but couldn't get any useful information. Worried about Xia Yuan's disappointment, Ye Siqi tried to console her, saying that they might encounter similar situations in the future. Xia Yuan felt deeply disappointed and her eyes turned red.
On the way back, Hao Wei Lai kept saying that he wanted to cook by himself, but he was clueless in the kitchen and didn't know how to cook. Xia Yuan and Ye Siqi worked together and started making dumplings. While they were halfway through, Ye Siqi suggested putting a coin in one of the dumplings so that the person who ate it would have a smooth year ahead. Hao Wei Lai found it unhygienic, so Xia Yuan proposed putting an apple slice instead. Ye Siqi understood Xia Yuan's intention and deliberately gave the dumplings with apple slices to Xia Yuan. Xia Yuan was delighted and extended her luck to Ye Siqi and Hao Wei Lai. However, Hao Wei Lai felt that it crossed his scientific boundaries and it left him somewhat annoyed.
Xia Yuan took the initiative to bring dumplings to Kate, but she was met with a cold rejection, making her want to figure out the reason why Kate had always been targeting her.
