Episode 9 recap: Hao Wei Lai exposes Loris' plot.
Hao Wei Lai returns injured and seeks out Xia Yuan. Xia Yuan is heartbroken when she sees the large bloodstains on his white clothes and quickly tends to his wounds. Hao Wei Lai reveals that he secretly went to the warehouse to investigate and believes that his actions went unnoticed. He is confident that if he and Xia Yuan were to suddenly leave the company, it would attract attention.
Loris instructs Xia Yuan to organize some documents quickly. Xia Yuan discovers that President Xu's information is also included and realizes something is wrong. She decides to eavesdrop on a conversation between Loris and Tom and learns that they plan to frame President Xu. Xia Yuan hurries to inform Hao Wei Lai but accidentally bumps into a glass door while leaving, alerting Loris. Loris deduces that Xia Yuan was there based on the scent of her perfume.
Hao Wei Lai learns about Loris' plan to frame President Xu from Xia Yuan. Initially, he considers reporting it to the police, but realizing there is no evidence, he decides to urge Xia Yuan to pack her belongings and leave while he goes to the warehouse alone to find evidence. As Hao Wei Lai arrives at the factory gate, the security guard greets him, raising suspicion. Nevertheless, he proceeds to the warehouse to uncover the truth. Wearing a safety helmet, he infiltrates the warehouse and seizes the opportunity to open a container and take photographs as evidence.
Someone in the warehouse notices Hao Wei Lai's actions and gives chase. Hao Wei Lai manages to evade capture and hides on a shelf. Loris denies Xia Yuan the chance to leave and forces her into his car. They drive directly to the warehouse, where Loris discovers that Hao Wei Lai is inside. Using Xia Yuan's safety as leverage, Loris coerces Hao Wei Lai to reveal himself and locks them both up.
Hao Wei Lai is concerned for Xia Yuan's safety and attempts to persuade Loris to release her. Loris, impressed by Xia Yuan's indifference towards him, decides to keep them together. However, due to Hao Wei Lai's excessive talking, Tom gags him with a towel and delivers a blow, rendering him unconscious.
When Xia Yuan sees Tom and his men leaving, she urgently calls out to Hao Wei Lai, who eventually regains consciousness. They work together to free themselves by untying the ropes. Xia Yuan discovers that the door is locked, so Hao Wei Lai quickly searches for another exit. He finds a ventilation opening and leads Xia Yuan through the ducts to escape. Tom soon realizes their escape and gives chase with his men. Despite their attempts to elude him, they are unable to shake off Tom. But just as the situation becomes dire, the police arrive and apprehend Tom and his gang.
As it turns out, Ye Si Qi couldn't reach Xia Yuan and felt suspicious. She went to find Qiao Bin and discovered that Qiao Bin also couldn't contact Hao Wei Lai. Considering Hao Wei Lai's previous warnings about Loris' ill intentions towards Xia Yuan, Ye Si Qi immediately called the police, who arrived just in time.
Loris learned about the incident at the dock and quickly took the opportunity to escape unnoticed. Hao Wei Lai went to the police station to give his statement, explaining that he was able to discover the incident because he had been moving cargo. He hoped that the police would be interested in the warehouse address and remember it despite being blindfolded. However, the police deemed it irrelevant to the case and asked Hao Wei Lai to focus on the important details. Reluctantly, Hao Wei Lai finished giving his statement and even inquired about the whereabouts of the goods, which annoyed the police, prompting them to quickly escort him out of the station.
Upon learning that Loris' plot to frame him had been uncovered by Xia Yuan and Hao Wei Lai, President Xu decided to personally go and bring them back to safety. His assistant volunteered to pick them up instead. Just as Hao Wei Lai was unsure of his next move, President Xu called him and instructed him to go with Scar (刀疤, a character mentioned earlier).
During the car ride, Hao Wei Lai recounted the thrilling events, leaving Qiao Bin and Ye Si Qi shocked and eager to know more about what transpired. Xia Yuan quickly interjected, expressing gratitude that the police arrived in time. Hao Wei Lai felt a bit disappointed, as he believed his contribution was being overlooked. Xia Yuan immediately reassured him, acknowledging his quick thinking and bravery in leading her to safety, which made Hao Wei Lai feel appreciated and brought a smile to his face.
Ye Si Qi and Qiao Bin felt that they should also be credited since they had alerted the authorities after realizing something was amiss. They insisted that Hao Wei Lai treat them to a meal. Scar watched the lively interaction among the four of them and couldn't help but smile. President Xu personally greeted Xia Yuan and Hao Wei Lai at the entrance, and Hao Wei Lai's casual demeanor surprised Ye Si Qi. It was revealed that Hao Wei Lai and President Xu knew each other, and this explained his audacious behavior.
President Xu lived alone in a large mansion and felt lonely. He warmly invited Xia Yuan and Hao Wei Lai to stay with him. He couldn't help but think of his son, A Hui, and how he wished his son could be by his side at that moment.
