Episode 18 recap: Song Zhen Yuan's plot to kill Su Mu was exposed.
Lin Wen Yu took a risk to protect Duan Xunchu Chu, but she was restrained and taken back home by Duan Xunchu Chu. Angry, she threw the evidence at him and told him that all of this was a result of Song Zhen Yuan's manipulation of the police department's investigation against him. Ten years ago, Song Zhen Yuan framed Su Mu as the murderer of Commander Duan, and it is certain that he and the police are in cahoots.
Duan Xunchu Chu suspected that the reason Song Zhen Yuan didn't lay a hand on him might be related to the location of the treasury, and Song Huai Ning could be a spy. In the study at Song's house, Lin Wen Yu discovered letters between Song Zhen Yuan and the police station, proving their collusion. At that moment, Duan Xunchu Chu deliberately arrived at the restaurant with a bottle of wine to invite everyone to taste it, thereby stalling Song Zhen Yuan.
After a satisfying meal, President Chu publicly presented a necklace to Wan Zhen. Song Zhen Yuan immediately understood his intentions, and Wan Zhen intentionally pulled Duan Xunchu Chu in front of President Chu, claiming that they were going on a date. On his way back home, Song Zhen Yuan suddenly encountered a roadblock for maintenance, and Deputy Officer Su deliberately fired a shot at the vehicle, causing the driver to hurriedly help Song Zhen Yuan escape the scene.
While Lin Wen Yu searched for evidence in the study, Duan Xunchu Chu arrived at the Song residence just in time to take her away. Meanwhile, Song Zhen Yuan supported Wan Zhen and they had no choice but to jump out of the window. Lin Wen Yu handed the letters proving Song Zhen Yuan's collusion with the police to Duan Xunchu Chu, thereby proving that they had long conspired to deliberately frame Su Mu.
Duan Xunchu Chu speculated that Song Huai Ning was possibly arranged by Song Zhen Yuan as a spy. That night, Duan Xunchu Chu kidnapped the police chief and, seeing that he wouldn't speak, used his family as leverage. The police chief finally revealed that everything was orchestrated by Song Zhen Yuan, who killed Commander Duan and had Song Huai Ning approach Duan Xunchu Chu in order to find the location of the treasury. Su Mu was just a scapegoat.
Deputy Officer Su discovered more evidence of Song Zhen Yuan's crimes, but it was difficult to handle due to his collusion with the police. Lin Wen Yu informed Duan Xunchu Chu about Song Huai Ning's suspicious behavior, as he had been inquiring about Deputy Officer Su's movements. Subsequently, Song Huai Ning received a tip-off and found out that Duan Xunchu Chu was digging something at an abandoned temple, so he and his men went there.
