Episode 6 recap: Duǎn Xúnchū's medicine was tampered with.
Wǎn Zhēn arrived early at Duǎn Xúnchū's house and found Lín Wényǔ wearing Duǎn Xúnchū's clothes. She then confronted her and physically attacked her. Just as Lín Wényǔ was about to fight back, Duǎn Xúnchū intervened and had someone escort Wǎn Zhēn away. At that moment, Duǎn Xúnchū's mind was preoccupied with her proximity to Huáiníng, and he forcefully kissed her, pinning her down on the sofa. Outraged, she slapped Duǎn Xúnchū, and they began to argue. She expressed that her life hadn't been good these past few years, but then Duǎn Xúnchū started coughing and noticed that he was coughing up blood. Deputy Su brought medicine, and Lín Wényǔ discovered that there was something wrong with it, so she insisted on examining the medicine residue.
When Duǎn Xúnchū brought Luó Wéiqí to the kitchen, they discovered that the pharmacist had already hanged himself. Lín Wényǔ examined the medicine residue and found that the combination of those drugs was a slow-acting poison. Duǎn Xúnchū suspected that someone wanted to obtain something from him and took the first step. Duǎn Xúnchū, aware that Lín Wényǔ had medical knowledge, asked her to stay here, but she refused. Lín Wényǔ left, and Duǎn Xúnchū recalled their childhood when they had to hide in the basement to escape being hunted down. He seemed to have heard the words "treasury," so he questioned Deputy Su about the location of his family's treasury.
Deputy Su didn't know the location of the treasury but promised to mobilize all resources to investigate. Meanwhile, another group secretly searched for the Duǎn family's treasury. The maid suggested to Wǎn Zhēn that she should host a banquet to invite Duǎn Xúnchū. So, Duǎn Xúnchū arrived with a gift at the Sōng residence, apologizing specifically to Wǎn Zhēn. Sōng Zhènyuǎn took advantage of the banquet to propose that Duǎn Xúnchū become his son-in-law, but Duǎn Xúnchū postponed the matter citing the need for young freedom in their relationship.
Huáiníng's headache flared up, and the Sōng residence called for Lín Wényǔ to treat her. After healing Huáiníng, when Lín Wényǔ tried to leave, she was confronted by Wǎn Zhēn. However, Lín Wényǔ didn't back down easily and managed to suppress Wǎn Zhēn with a few words.
