Episode 1 recap: Qian Heng and Cheng Yao unexpectedly became roommates.
The male lead, Qian Heng (played by Chen Xing Xu), has excellent design skills. On the other hand, Cheng Yao (played by Zhang Ruo Nan) went to a social event with another girl. They were supposed to exchange a proposal with each other, but the other party insisted on pouring them drinks. Both of them were very reluctant. Coincidentally, they overheard a lady next to them talking to a man. The lady mentioned that she charges her dinner companions according to their prices, and it costs ten thousand yuan per hour. Cheng Yao and her good friend thought they were involved in an illicit transaction and assumed the guy next to them was Qian Heng. That was how they first met.
Cheng Yao started to act cute towards Qian Heng, leaning her head on his shoulder. She even offered to give him twenty thousand yuan. Cheng Yao was being flirtatious, and Qian Heng seemed unaffected. Cheng Yao was taken advantage of by the boss and got up, loudly proclaiming that she was a lawyer and wouldn't do anything else. She angrily left the restaurant, and her friend Tingting followed. Cheng Yao was so angry that she smeared her lipstick with her hand.
As soon as they stepped out, they saw Qian Heng leaving in a luxury car. It must be said that this pretty boy was indeed very wealthy. Cheng Yao felt sorry for Qian Heng, thinking he must have earned a lot of money by working day and night. Cheng Yao shared with her friend that she had moved into a new house, only to encounter Qian Heng downstairs. She felt very unlucky to run into this pretty boy.
Unexpectedly, they both entered the building at the same time. It can be said that their encounter was a plot of fate. However, Qian Heng didn't even give Cheng Yao a second glance. Cheng Yao went upstairs and realized that they were actually living in the same house. It turned out that the real estate agent had rented the house to both of them. Cheng Yao took the initiative and rushed in first, but Qian Heng followed and insisted on living there. He even offered to buy the house.
When the landlord arrived, Cheng Yao directly used her boss's name, Qian Heng, from the law firm. She claimed that her boss liked her very much and was excellent at handling lawsuits. Even until now, Cheng Yao had never met her boss, unaware that her boss was standing right in front of her as Qian Heng. Qian Heng was a bit surprised but didn't expose her.
In the end, the landlord proposed a compromise: they would share the rent. At first, Cheng Yao didn't want to agree, but considering that the landlord would take care of her business in the future, she eventually agreed. Qian Heng told Cheng Yao that he would stay there for three days and offered to pay some of the rent upfront. Qian Heng immediately paid three months' rent, and Cheng Yao naturally accepted.
Cheng Yao was still curious about why Qian Heng would only stay for three days. However, Qian Heng kept telling her to keep quiet. At night, when Cheng Yao saw Qian Heng setting up some gossip array, she later discovered that he was actually talking to a lady on the phone and discussing related matters. She then assumed that Qian Heng was in public relations.
Actually, all the decorations in Qian Heng's room were arranged by his good friend Wu Jun. The main purpose was to help him get a good night's sleep since he had been suffering from insomnia for a long time. As soon as Qian Heng lay down on the bed, he could hear Cheng Yao making loud noises while cleaning the room, but surprisingly, it helped him fall asleep.
When Qian Heng woke up, he noticed that everything in the living room was divided in half, which seemed to be Cheng Yao's way of living. Cheng Yao arrived at the company for her first day of work as an assistant. However, since the company hadn't placed Qian Heng's photo yet, Cheng Yao still didn't know that her roommate was actually her boss, Qian Heng.
Later, a colleague took Cheng Yao to a small room filled with Qian Heng's trophies and some intimidating items. Just then, Qian Heng appeared, and Cheng Yao tried to think of all the possible ways to greet her boss, but she never expected her roommate to be her boss.
Cheng Yao apologized to her boss proactively, and Qian Heng told her not to let other matters affect her work. He mentioned that all his previous assistants were fired because they had feelings for him. While Cheng Yao was cleaning in the evening, she complained to her good friend about this incident, not expecting it to be true.
Taking advantage of Qian Heng's absence, Cheng Yao went into his room and saw some strange things. However, she accidentally knocked something down and broke it. When Qian Heng returned and caught Cheng Yao, she quickly left the room. Qian Heng was about to go back to his room when Cheng Yao tried to stop him with various excuses. However, Qian Heng went in and found his belongings shattered on the floor. He became very angry and immediately kicked Cheng Yao out with her luggage.
Cheng Yao had no choice but to wear her home clothes and drag her luggage, preparing to stay in a hotel. However, when she saw the expensive cost, she hesitated. Suddenly, Cheng Yao remembered that her colleague had mentioned that sometimes people would stay in small compartments in the office, where everything was available. So she decided to stay there temporarily as a transition.
This drama is absolutely amazing, and it's so enjoyable! It's cheesy, sweet, and hilarious. The actors and their characters are a perfect match. The male lead is handsome and funny, Chen Xing Xu is truly suitable for the role. At first glance, he may not be conventionally handsome, but the more you watch, the more attractive he becomes.
And the second male lead, just by looking at his face, you know he's the one who brings the laughs. The plot flows smoothly, without feeling tedious. I really hope it becomes a big hit. This drama has made me realize that Zhang Ruo Nan is the perfect fit for the stubborn female lead.
The director is also fantastic. I've known about Chen Mingzhang for a long time, and I've always felt that he's like Liu Junjie, the director of "Love O2O." The camera work can be a bit repetitive, but this drama doesn't have those overly repetitive shots like in "Diamond Lover." It really matches the current trend of storytelling and it's truly captivating!
It's fantastic!
How could they possibly become roommates right from the start? And how can the male lead's insomnia be cured by the female lead? Remember, this is an idol drama. Idol dramas are all about watching handsome men and beautiful women in sweet romantic relationships.
Even the professor in "My Love from the Star" is an alien, is that logical? This drama actually respects the profession quite well compared to other idol dramas. The cases are not overly suspenseful, and as the story progresses, the problems faced by the main characters become more realistic.
Don't judge the drama based on just the beginning, if you don't like it, then don't watch it.
