Episode 11 recap: Cheng Yao learns the truth about her job.
In the evening, Cheng Yao received a transfer from Qian Heng, who had split the cost of their dinner and transferred half to Cheng Yao. At first, Cheng Yao wanted to refuse, but Qian Heng insisted, so she accepted gratefully. While Cheng Yao was out shopping, she found out that the second ice cream was half price, so she bought one for Qian Heng as well.
However, when they returned home, Qian Heng initially said he didn't want to eat it. Cheng Yao opened the ice cream and was about to take a few bites when Qian Heng grabbed it and started eating. Cheng Yao hadn't even had a chance to say it was her ice cream when Qian Heng commented on how delicious it was and said they should buy more next time and he could reimburse her.
While Cheng Yao was out walking the dog, their pet accidentally picked on someone else's dog. Seeing that Cheng Yao was a girl, the other person intended to extort some money from her. However, Qian Heng arrived and stood in front of Cheng Yao. He first gave the person 3,000 yuan as compensation, but when they tried to demand more, Qian Heng put a stop to it and didn't give them any more money.
When Cheng Yao returned home, she told Mengting about the incident. Mengting thought it was a sign that Qian Heng liked her. Suddenly, Cheng Yao remembered all the recent events between them and felt a bit embarrassed. She then went to Qian Heng's bedroom and said she wanted to thank him for what happened that day. Unbeknownst to Qian Heng, Cheng Yao had arranged a romantic foot-soaking ceremony on the rooftop, complete with fruits and cake, to help him relax.
Qian Heng mentioned that he loved being on the rooftop, and coincidentally, their villa had a similar spot. The two of them sat together, gazing at the moonlight over the city. Qian Heng closed his eyes to rest, and Cheng Yao couldn't help but smile. The next morning, as Cheng Yao was heading to work, she saw a woman wearing sunglasses at the front desk, saying she wanted to make an appointment with Qian Heng. Initially, Bao Rui thought it was a flirtatious encounter and prepared to impersonate Qian Heng to inquire further. However, they discovered that the woman wanted Qian Heng to be her lawyer.
Qian Heng happened to overhear their conversation at the entrance and went over to scold Bao Rui before escorting the woman out of the office. When the woman took off her sunglasses, she realized it was Chen Qingmei, Mr. Dong's lover. After Mr. Dong's passing, she and her child had no status or inheritance, so she came seeking Qian Heng's help to fight for her child's rights.
Qian Heng first asked if Mr. Dong had made a will, and Chen Qingmei said everything happened too suddenly, so there was nothing. In the end, Qian Heng accepted the case. However, Cheng Yao felt that Qian Heng should not have taken the case. Although the child was innocent, the wealth was built by Mr. Dong and his wife together, and it should not be divided among outsiders. This caused a disagreement between them. Cheng Yao also expressed her unwillingness to pursue the case. Qian Heng didn't expect Cheng Yao to be so decisive and even mentioned that Cheng Yao didn't enter the company through proper channels. At that moment, Cheng Yao felt worthless and believed that she couldn't do anything other than helping Qian Heng with his insomnia.
After crying and leaving, Cheng Yao was comforted by Tan Ying and others. Qian Heng, angry about the case, then scolded his other subordinates. Cheng Yao asked Bao Rui to help her take a leave of absence, and although she initially planned to go home, she decided to stay in a hotel instead.
At night, Qian Heng noticed that Cheng Yao hadn't returned. Even when handling work, he was distracted. He messaged Cheng Yao, saying he hadn't eaten supper yet. Cheng Yao had developed feelings for Qian Heng and had thought that his kindness towards her indicated he had feelings for her too. However, after this incident, she realized that Qian Heng probably never had any interest in her from the beginning.
When Qian Heng was at work, he scolded his other subordinates again. Wu Jun approached him and informed him that he had told Cheng Yao about Qian Heng helping her enter the law firm through the back door. Wu Jun scolded Qian Heng harshly, and they still hadn't found Cheng Yao.
Unable to do anything else, Wu Jun called Cheng Xi. Eventually, through Cheng Xi's help, they found Cheng Yao at the hotel. Cheng Yao was feeling down because she had entered the law firm through the back door. Cheng Xi sat next to her and comforted her.
Cheng Yao said it's not that she didn't want to go back, but she didn't want to take on Chen Qingmei's case. However, Cheng Xi believed that it was an opportunity for Cheng Yao to challenge and improve herself. She said that Cheng Yao needed to have more energy to defeat Qian Heng in the future. Cheng Yao agreed with her words.
