Episode 9 recap: Gu Cheng confesses his feelings to Yan Zhen.
When Chu Zean saw that it was Gu Cheng who Yan Zhen had agreed to meet, he couldn't help but feel puzzled. He couldn't understand why Yan Zhen, who had clearly read the letter left by Chu Zean Jia, would still agree to meet Gu Cheng. Yan Zhen looked at the painting in the art exhibition and remembered the intimate moments she had with Chu Zean Jia, leaning against the sofa, discussing the artist's works. She clearly remembered that Chu Zean Jia felt that people were overinterpreting the artist's works, emphasizing feelings of loneliness and solitude, but in reality, he preferred a pure and simple life. He wanted to buy the painting purely because its color tones matched his room and because it had investment potential.
As Gu Cheng looked at Yan Zhen's smile, he asked her if she remembered the past. Yan Zhen noticed Chu Zean always paying attention to her out of the corner of her eye, so she deliberately said she was feeling cold. Immediately, Gu Cheng took off his coat and put it on her. Chu Zean felt extremely frustrated and criticized Yan Zhen for not wearing his own coat and insisting on having Gu Cheng keep her warm. While Gu Cheng was helping Yan Zhen put on the coat, he expressed his desire to take her to a place she had never been before. Suddenly, Chu Xin called Gu Cheng and asked him to accompany her to an art exhibition. Gu Cheng was terrified and used the excuse of his phone being out of battery to hang up the call. However, Chu Xin still came to the art exhibition and coincidentally ran into Chu Zean. She pestered Chu Zean to accompany her, but Chu Zean played a trick and got rid of Chu Xin. Gu Cheng took Yan Zhen to the rooftop and confessed his feelings to her, hoping that she would choose a different life and escape from everything at present.
