Episode 16 recap: Xia Tian confessed her identity.
Upon learning of her grandmother's passing, Xia Tian collapsed to the ground, unable to accept the blow. Ji Cheng Xuan noticed something was wrong with Xia Tian and hurriedly ran towards her, pulling her close. Seven days after her grandmother's death, Ji Cheng Xuan accompanied Xia Tian to the sea to scatter her grandmother's ashes. Xia Tian recalled the time when her grandmother wanted her company, but she hadn't been by her side.
Feeling impulsive, Xia Tian stood by the seaside, contemplating jumping in. Ji Cheng Xuan sensed that something was amiss and quickly held onto Xia Tian, comforting her and urging her to live a good life. He assured her that her grandmother in heaven would also want Xia Tian to be happy. Xia Tian knew that Ji Cheng Xuan was afraid she might jump, and at times she felt like an actress, deceiving her grandmother. She had taken on a major project and even lied to her grandmother about the old house still being there. Shen Yueran was right after all; she had deceived everyone around her and now was facing the consequences.
Feeling unable to continue the charade, Xia Tian told Ji Cheng Xuan that she wanted to terminate their contract. Initially, Xia Tian wanted to say goodbye to her grandfather, but when she saw the gift he had prepared for her, she found it difficult to continue acting. She confessed to her grandfather that she wasn't He Shanyue and had deceived him, then hastily left.
When Xia Tian saw Qin Yue, she initially wanted to avoid him but reconsidered and approached him, confessing that she had voluntarily revealed her true identity. Xia Tian was surprised when Qin Yue invited her for tea. As they spent time together and talked, Xia Tian leaned on Qin Yue's shoulder and fell asleep. Qin Yue, afraid of making Xia Tian uncomfortable, pretended to be asleep and watched her leave.
Upon coming out, Xia Tian saw Ji Cheng Xuan outside, and she froze in place.
