Episode 16 recap: Hua Qing Ge's attempt to rescue Ji Feng instead led to a dangerous situation.
As Hua Qing Ge was brought over, she happened to witness a soldier killing a servant who was working. The soldier wanted to test whether Hua Qing Ge was truly blind, so he deliberately held a knife towards her eyes. However, Hua Qing Ge remained motionless, dispelling the soldier's doubts.
Since she appeared to be a blind maid, they decided to keep her around for a while. Ji Chu returned early, and Gong Ye Qi quickly examined his pulse. Over the years, Ji Chu's health had not been great, so Gong Ye Qi had been having him soak in medicinal baths. Ji Chu also learned that Ji Yun and Lin Xi Yao were investigating the matter, and he wanted to see how far they could progress in their investigation.
At this moment, Ji Yun and Lin Xi Yao disguised themselves and prepared to infiltrate the camp. It seemed that they were seeking huge profits from it. However, they were noticed by other guards. Fortunately, Ji Yun reacted quickly, preventing others from becoming suspicious.
At this time, Ji Feng had already hidden under a carriage. Unexpectedly, Hua Qing Ge found him. She signaled Ji Feng to follow her and they quietly escaped together.
At first, Ji Feng mistakenly believed that Ji Chu had sent Hua Qing Ge to rescue him, and he felt grateful towards his third brother. Hua Qing Ge was helpless and dared not reveal that it was actually Ji Chu's doing. Ji Feng went through these experiences and truly matured. Little did they know that someone had cut the rope that bound the buckets, causing both Hua Qing Ge and Ji Feng to fall out. Things took a turn for the worse.
Hua Qing Ge failed to save anyone and instead implicated herself. There was no point in trying to escape now. Duke Dingguo, following Ji Chu's instructions, informed the emperor of the whole situation. Upon learning that the Wei family had been secretly constructing weapons, the emperor became furious and lost trust in them. General Wei's only task now was to destroy all evidence and leave no trace.
To Ji Chu's surprise, Hua Qing Ge was also on the list of those to be hunted down. Ji Chu planned to rescue her, but Gong Ye Qi intercepted him. Gong Ye Qi never expected Ji Chu to disregard their brotherly bond for the sake of a woman, indicating that Ji Chu had developed feelings for Hua Qing Ge.
Meanwhile, Hua Qing Ge was still contemplating how to escape. Lin Xi Yao took advantage of delivering fruits to the guards and secretly added laxatives, hoping to create an opportunity for them to enter the dungeon and rescue people.
