Episode 17 recap: General Wei intends to rebel.
After eating the food that was delivered, two soldiers experienced unbearable abdominal pain. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Lin Xi Yao and Ji Yun went inside. As long as they could find the blueprint, they would be able to locate the prison. Lin Xi Yao found a soldier roster, and unexpectedly discovered that not only were weapons being forged in secret, but there might also be embezzlement. The Wei family already had thoughts of rebellion, but they needed more evidence.
Just then, General Wei arrived with his subordinates and declared that everyone in the military camp must be dealt with, and the weapons needed to be buried on-site. This was a matter of great importance, and he personally needed to oversee it. After General Wei left, Ji Yun and Lin Xi Yao came out. Now General Wei also wanted to eliminate all witnesses. It seemed that Ji Feng and Hua Qing Ge were in great danger.
At this time, Hua Qing Ge and Ji Feng were still in the dungeon, both believing that there was no hope for their rescue. Hua Qing Ge tried to comfort Ji Feng, who expressed gratitude and promised to repay them if he could safely escape. Hua Qing Ge asked Ji Feng to stand guard while she planned to open the door with a hairpin from her hair. However, they were eventually discovered.
They were even found out that Hua Qing Ge was pretending to be blind. Just when they thought it was a hopeless situation, Ji Yun appeared just in time, followed by Lin Xi Yao. It was because Lin Xi Yao had left a clue that they were able to find their location. Hua Qing Ge clung to Lin Xi Yao, but unfortunately, Hua Qing Ge injured her foot. Fortunately, Ji Yun carried her and they fled, but the guards were already chasing after them. They had no choice but to split up. Ji Yun and Lin Xi Yao lured the pursuers away, while Hua Qing Ge stayed with Ji Feng.
Not long after they left, Hua Qing Ge felt unwell and needed to find a place to relieve herself. General Wei learned that the camp had been surrounded and everyone else had been dealt with, except for the two fugitives. Ji Chu finally found Ji Feng, but suddenly a masked person emerged and attacked Ji Feng. Ji Chu and the assailant engaged in a fight, and Ji Feng was already coughing up blood. With his remaining strength, Ji Feng told Ji Chu that he had always believed Ji Chu would come to save them. Ji Feng also knew that it was his own mother who had caused the death of the virtuous concubine and he wanted to use his life to repay the debt. After saying this, Ji Feng took his last breath.
Ji Chu didn't want Ji Feng to be killed like this. When Hua Qing Ge came back from the restroom, she only saw Ji Chu and Ji Feng together and she screamed, thinking that Ji Chu had killed Ji Feng. Hua Qing Ge recalled the moments they had shared together, but before Ji Chu could explain, the pursuers had already caught up. Ji Chu quickly took Hua Qing Ge and left.
Meanwhile, Ji Yun and Lin Xi Yao were also surrounded by masked individuals. Lin Xi Yao got injured while trying to save Ji Yun. Fortunately, the reinforcements arrived just in time. Lin Xi Yao was injured, so Ji Yun instructed his subordinates to take Lin Xi Yao back while he went to save Hua Qing Ge and Ji Feng.
When they reached a safe zone, Ji Chu finally put down Hua Qing Ge and treated her injured foot. Hua Qing Ge asked Ji Chu to let her go, but soldiers arrived and started chasing them. Ji Yun saw Ji Feng's body and became emotionally distraught. However, he suddenly noticed Ji Chu's mark on the dagger used to kill Ji Feng, and he shifted all the blame onto Ji Chu.
At this moment, Ji Chu and Hua Qing Ge were forced to the edge of a cliff. General Wei told them there was no escape, and Ji Chu asked if General Wei was planning a rebellion. General Wei replied that even if he had to die, he would use a prince as a scapegoat. Ji Chu made a leap and jumped off the cliff with Hua Qing Ge. Ji Yun arrived shortly after, and General Wei, who desired death, ordered his soldiers to attack Ji Yun.
At the last moment, Duke Dingguo arrived, and Ji Yun entrusted everything to him while he himself went down the mountain to save people. The masked individuals revealed that their identities had been exposed and ordered their subordinates to continue searching for and capturing Ji Chu. When Hua Qing Ge woke up, she found herself lying on Ji Chu, who was still unconscious. As a group of masked individuals approached, Hua Qing Ge had no choice but to carry the heavy Ji Chu and leave.
Hua Qing Ge took Ji Chu to a thatched hut, and when Ji Chu woke up, he realized that Hua Qing Ge had saved him. However, Hua Qing Ge tied Ji Chu's hands, still believing that he had killed Ji Feng. Although he deserved punishment for taking a life, Ji Chu asked Hua Qing Ge to untie him. As a result, Ji Chu developed a high fever. Hua Qing Ge suspected that his wound had become infected, but fortunately, she had some knowledge of Chinese medicine. She went out to gather herbs but was suddenly discovered by the masked individuals while leaving a mark.
The masked individuals demanded that Hua Qing Ge reveal Ji Chu's hiding place. They followed the directions drawn by Hua Qing Ge and arrived at a bamboo forest. Gong Ye Qi happened to witness this scene and decided to knock them out and rescue Ji Chu. Although Hua Qing Ge had drawn the directions in a roundabout manner, she could only buy time.
Gong Ye Qi found Ji Chu, administered medicine to him, and prepared to take him away. Gong Ye Qi also mentioned that Hua Qing Ge had betrayed Ji Chu, but Ji Chu sensed that something was amiss and asked about Hua Qing Ge's whereabouts.
