Episode 20 recap: There are suspicions about Du Wenshu's identity.
Hua Qing Ge and Ji Chu are still studying the meaning of the tattoos on the black-robed individuals. Hua Qing Ge suspects that it is the symbol of a mysterious organization. Both Ji Chu and Hua Qing Ge believe that those with such tattoos must be accomplices. They come to this realization together, and Ji Chu immediately orders a citywide search for the identity of the tattooed person.
Gong Ye Qi comes to see Ji Wan Er and brings some books. Coincidentally, someone approaches Ji Wan Er to strike up a conversation. Gong Ye Qi intentionally comments that the person doesn't look well, suggesting they should see a doctor. Ji Wan Er clearly realizes that Gong Ye Qi is feeling jealous.
Du Wenshu claims that it's the last time he is helping Lin Xi Yao with the case files. Lin Xi Yao shows some surprise and quickly asks for an explanation. Soon after, Ji Chu also learns that Du Wenshu is leaving. Hua Qing Ge finds it quite regrettable, while Ji Chu feels a bit jealous.
Suddenly, Ji Chu recalls something and quickly gathers everyone together, suspecting that there might be a mole among them. When Du Wenshu arrives, his wrist is burned, and Lin Xi Yao hurriedly explains. Then, someone takes advantage of the situation and tries to escape. Indeed, that person is the mole. Ji Chu asks the person about their organization, but they refuse to say a word. Hua Qing Ge suddenly realizes that none of the people around them can be trusted.
Lin Xi Yao also speaks up for Du Wenshu, hoping that he won't be treated harshly. Ji Chu calls Hua Qing Ge over and mentions that he has a foolproof plan, pretending that Hua Qing Ge is involved. After all, Hua Qing Ge hasn't revealed her own identity yet, but Ji Chu already suspects her.
Hua Qing Ge leaves the Eastern Justice Department, and Ji Chu originally planned to take her to the market. However, Hua Qing Ge refuses, stating that she has important matters to attend to. Ji Chu becomes somewhat angry but eventually agrees. Later, Ji Chu accompanies Hua Qing Ge as they wander around the streets. Hua Qing Ge is very happy. Afterwards, Hua Qing Ge goes to find Ji Wan Er and even extends her hand, urging Ji Chu to hurry. This scene happens to be witnessed by Ji Yun, who feels somewhat disappointed.
Du Wenshu also finds Ji Yun and shows him something in his hands. They exchange a glance, indicating that they have the same understanding. Ji Wan Er intentionally tells Gong Ye Qi that she naturally has a cold body, and the two of them are invited to participate in an event together.
Lin Xi Yao got lost and was spotted by Duke Dingguo. Duke Dingguo learned that Lin Xi Yao has a poor sense of direction, just like his wife. Lin Xi Yao's mother also suffers from the same problem. Duke Dingguo feels that there are similarities between Lin Xi Yao and his lost daughter.
Ji Wan Er and Gong Ye Qi need to guess each other's hands through a veil. Among the five couples, only Ji Wan Er and Gong Ye Qi guessed correctly. They look at each other with deep affection. They receive a so-called reward, which happens to be a pair of jade pendants. Ji Wan Er asks Gong Ye Qi how he knew her hand, and Gong Ye Qi provides an explanation.
Ji Yun and Du Wenshu finish their conversation and leave. Du Wenshu notices a child sitting on the ground, almost hit by a signboard. Du Wenshu quickly rushes over and carries the child away. Gong Ye Qi also arrives and promptly provides medical treatment for the child. Du Wenshu takes the opportunity to leave. Ji Yun is quite curious about how he has such excellent martial arts skills.
Hua Qing Ge and Ji Chu also arrive, as well as Lin Xi Yao. Ji Wan Er is taken away by a man who even intends to marry her. Fortunately, Gong Ye Qi arrives in time and rescues Ji Wan Er. Ji Wan Er clings to Gong Ye Qi and bursts into tears. Gong Ye Qi also holds Ji Wan Er, but his hand hesitates in the air. There is a blood feud between the royal family and the Su family, and Gong Ye Qi is destined not to love Ji Wan Er.
Nevertheless, Ji Wan Er still clings to Gong Ye Qi and expresses her desire for him to take care of her for a lifetime. Gong Ye Qi thinks that since the vendetta is not yet settled, he can still follow his own feelings. They then return together while Gong Ye Qi carries Ji Wan Er on his back.
Unfortunately, Ji Chu sees them. Hua Qing Ge initially wanted to smooth the romantic relationship between Ji Yun and Lin Xi Yao, but instead, the main characters miss their chance, and the romantic relationship between Ji Wan Er and Gong Ye Qi accelerates. Ji Chu knows that Gong Ye Qi hasn't fully avenged himself, so he asks if he can truly let it go.
However, Ji Wan Er only loves Gong Ye Qi wholeheartedly. Hua Qing Ge watches them, and Ji Chu insists that Hua Qing Ge must move back. Hua Qing Ge reluctantly agrees. Ji Chu also arranges a personal maid named Mo Yu to be by Hua Qing Ge's side.
Duke Dingguo sees Lin Xi Yao eating wontons on the street and goes over to greet him. Lin Xi Yao enjoys spicy food, which is similar to Duke Dingguo's daughter. After returning home, Ji Chu investigates the handwriting that Du Wenshu wrote twenty years ago and finds that it is significantly different. Perhaps Du Wenshu does have some issues. Ji Yun confirms that Du Wenshu indeed has excellent martial arts skills. Ji Chu plans not to act recklessly for now, in order to expose the mastermind behind the scenes.
