Episode 29 recap: Hua Qing Ge stole the fish talisman and was placed under house arrest.
Wei Nan Yi informed Gong Ye Qi that Ji Chu had rejected her advances. Ji Chu made it clear that his heart belonged only to Hua Qing Ge and that he could not accommodate anyone else. Initially, Wei Nan Yi thought Ji Chu would compromise for the sake of the fish talisman, but to her surprise, Ji Chu was even willing to give up his revenge and didn't want to disappoint Hua Qing Ge.
In fact, Wei Nan Yi had noticed that Gong Ye Qi harbored a great deal of hatred in his heart. Gong Ye Qi swore to eventually reveal the true face of the Empress and make her pay for her blood debts. At that moment, Ji Chu was already drunk, and Wei Nan Yi planned to support him on their way back. However, on the way, Ji Chu mistook Wei Nan Yi for Hua Qing Ge. Hua Qing Ge noticed that her hand had become transparent and suspected that she might be returning to the real world. In that moment, she happened to witness Ji Chu holding Wei Nan Yi.
Feeling heartbroken, Hua Qing Ge returned to her room. Although she knew she was destined to leave, she couldn't help but cry. Suddenly, Hua Qing Ge remembered that the Empress had asked her to steal the fish talisman. Hua Qing Ge had no knowledge of the importance of the talisman to Ji Chu but simply wanted to help the Empress.
When Ji Chu and Wei Nan Yi returned to the room, Ji Chu discovered that someone had been there, and indeed, the fish talisman was missing. However, he spotted Hua Qing Ge in the corner and noticed the talisman she had hidden in her chest. Hua Qing Ge quickly tried to explain, but Ji Chu became very angry. He ordered his subordinates to take Hua Qing Ge away, stating that she couldn't leave without his orders. Helpless, Hua Qing Ge had to go back.
Hua Qing Ge worried that the Empress might take action against Ji Chu once she learned about her confinement. She was also concerned about Ji Chu's decision-making. The Empress soon learned about Hua Qing Ge's house arrest, but it was confirmed that Hua Qing Ge had no ulterior motives towards her.
The Empress had her own considerations and planned to deliver a blow to Ji Chu at the right time. Gong Ye Qi also learned about Hua Qing Ge stealing the fish talisman and hoped that Ji Chu would handle the situation well, as this act further confirmed Hua Qing Ge's association with the Empress. However, Ji Chu was not as decisive as expected. He knew that revenge was important, but there were things far more significant than revenge.
Unable to do anything else, Gong Ye Qi had no choice but to leave.
The Empress pretended to be sick and informed Ji Yun about Hua Qing Ge's house arrest by Ji Chu, intending to make Ji Yun turn against Ji Chu. Ji Yun initially didn't believe it, but couldn't resist the Empress's manipulation and insinuation that Ji Chu might want to divorce Hua Qing Ge and marry Wei Nan Yi.
Ji Chu never doubted Hua Qing Ge; he was only concerned that she might be manipulated by the Empress. At this time, the Emperor summoned Ji Chu to the palace. The Emperor had learned from Ji Yun that both Wei Nan Yi and her brother were in the city, and to prevent any turmoil, he wanted Ji Chu to send them away as soon as possible. Ji Chu knew that all of this was Ji Yun's idea, and he must be at odds with Ji Yun now.
Hua Qing Ge wanted to take the opportunity to leave her room when Xiao Nan Gua arrived. Xiao Nan Gua initially mocked Hua Qing Ge but then informed her that Ji Wan Er had been betrothed to Minister Li by the Emperor and would soon depart for the southern border. Hua Qing Ge couldn't believe what she heard.
Xiao Nan Gua thought Hua Qing Ge was kind-hearted and, since they were like sisters to Ji Wan Er, decided to tell her about the arrangement. After Xiao Nan Gua left, Hua Qing Ge's hand began to turn transparent again, and she felt disoriented as if she had returned to the modern world. Hua Qing Ge knew that she might be going back to the present, but it wasn't her time to leave yet.
Ji Chu was actually thinking about Hua Qing Ge at night. His subordinates knew he was worried about her and didn't believe that she was a bad person. Later, Ji Chu went to Hua Qing Ge's room to visit her. Hua Qing Ge was still crying on the bed, and Ji Chu felt deeply sorry for her.
Ji Chu said he didn't want to suspect Hua Qing Ge, but when it came to the Empress, one wrong step could lead to everything being wrong. Seeing Ji Chu about to leave, Hua Qing Ge wanted to chase after him and hold on to him, but her hand started becoming transparent again. Hua Qing Ge knew she was going back, and she was very sad. She desperately rushed towards Ji Chu and tried to hug him, but she couldn't hold on, and she herself started becoming transparent.
Suddenly, Hua Qing Ge managed to call out to Ji Chu, and he immediately embraced her. Hua Qing Ge cried, saying that she didn't intend to give the fish talisman to the Empress. She only wanted to create a fake copy to deceive the Empress. Ji Chu told Hua Qing Ge that he would believe her as long as she said so.
