Episode 30 recap: Ji Wan Er married a man from the southern country.

The queen was sewing shoes for Ji Wan Er and was reminded of her own youth when she looked at the young palace maid. At that moment, the emperor came over. The emperor knew that she couldn't let go of Ji Wan Er, so he wanted to comfort her. The emperor also said that she was the only one by his side, and the queen pretended to say that he was the only one by her side.

Ever since Ji Wan Er found out that she was to marry Prime Minister Li, she felt lost and disoriented. The maidservant looked at Ji Wan Er with great pity. Ji Wan Er felt that she no longer had the freedom to do as she pleased. Since she couldn't marry the one she loved, it didn't matter who she married.

Ji Wan Er had already compromised. In the end, her resistance was meaningless. Hua Qing Ge went to the study, but it was covered in cobwebs. Hua Qing Ge happened to see Ji Wan Er and mentioned that she had just learned about Ji Wan Er's impending marriage. She went back to plead with Ji Chu for help.

But Ji Chu couldn't make a decision about this matter either. Ji Wan Er even thought about running away with Ji Wan Er. From Ji Chu, Hua Qing Ge learned that Gong Ye Qi was willing to give up Ji Wan Er for the sake of revenge. Hua Qing Ge also felt that it was not worth it for Ji Wan Er.

Ji Yun was in a bad mood, and Lin Xi Yao came over to comfort him. The next day, Ji Wan Er was about to get married, and everyone came to bid her farewell. Since Gong Ye Qi rejected Ji Wan Er, her heart had died. Ji Wan Er turned and left. She held back her tears, but there was still regret in her heart.

On the way back, Hua Qing Ge cried in the carriage. Hua Qing Ge also said that there were many things she hadn't told Ji Wan Er, and she was very worried that this would be their last meeting. Ji Chu was there to comfort Hua Qing Ge.

Ji Chu knew that Hua Qing Ge couldn't bear to part with Ji Wan Er, so he took Hua Qing Ge and caught up with the wedding procession. Ji Wan Er still hoped that Gong Ye Qi would come, but in the end, Gong Ye Qi didn't show up.

Ji Wan Er asked Ji Chu to deliver a letter to Gong Ye Qi. If Gong Ye Qi came, he should give him the letter, but if he didn't, he should burn it. And so, Ji Wan Er left. Ji Chu embraced Hua Qing Ge, and in fact, Gong Ye Qi did come today, but he didn't dare to face Ji Wan Er. He could only hide in a corner and bid her farewell. This parting would be forever.

Actually, Ji Chu knew that Gong Ye Qi did come to see Ji Wan Er yesterday. Before leaving, Ji Chu did give the letter to Gong Ye Qi. After taking the letter, Gong Ye Qi didn't say a word but felt deeply saddened. That night, he drank alone and thought for a long time before tearing up the letter Ji Wan Er had written to him. But then he regretted it and opened the letter to read what Ji Wan Er had written.

Ji Wan Er described their time together with Gong Ye Qi. In the end, they were destined to be unable to be together. After reading the letter, Gong Ye Qi was in tears, hoping for another life where he would not let Ji Wan Er down. The emperor looked at a painting and remembered the virtuous concubine. Today was the anniversary of the virtuous concubine's passing. In fact, the emperor had hidden the painting of the virtuous concubine in the study. She had always held a special place in his heart.

Ji Chu had a dream at night, dreaming of birds of prey and thinking about the injustices suffered by his mother. He suddenly woke up from the nightmare, and Hua Qing Ge looked at Ji Chu, feeling his distress. She stayed by Ji Chu's side, remembering how the virtuous concubine used to sing lullabies to comfort him when he had nightmares as a child. Hua Qing Ge continued to accompany Ji Chu, hoping that he would feel better in his heart.
