Episode 32 recap: "Ji Chu and Hua Qing Ge's estrangement resurfaces.
This is the ending Ji Chu desired, but she still worries that as long as the Empress is alive, she will continue to cause trouble. The Empress never expected Ji Chu to scheme against her, and now with only Ji Yun by her side, she feels no fear. After waking up, Ji Yun is constantly taken care of by Lin Xi Yao.
Upon learning that her mother has been placed under house arrest, Ji Yun remains deeply concerned. In reality, Ji Yun believes that she is reaping what she sowed, as she failed to persuade her mother to change her ways or protect Ji Wan Er. Lin Xi Yao notices suspicious details about Ji Wan Er's body, suggesting that the corpse may not belong to Ji Wan Er after all. It is possible that Ji Chu wanted to grant Ji Wan Er freedom and prevent her from marrying Prime Minister Li.
When Gong Ye Qi returns home, he discovers a person in white waiting outside his door, only to find that it is Ji Wan Er upon closer inspection. All of this is part of Ji Chu's plan, simply to bring Ji Wan Er and Gong Ye Qi together, hoping that Ji Wan Er can truly live for herself. Gong Ye Qi also vows never to push Ji Wan Er away again. Although Ji Wan Er wants to know why Gong Ye Qi has had a change of heart, he chooses not to reveal the truth to spare her from further pain.
Ji Wan Er embraces Gong Ye Qi, and the two lovers are finally united. Wei Nan Yi asks Ji Chu if she has made up her mind, to which Ji Chu confirms her decision, stating that she and "Little Pumpkin" can return home in a few days. At that moment, a subordinate arrives and informs them that all preparations have been made. However, with the fish token in hand, they can only mobilize half of their forces. Wei Nan Yi suggests using the title of the Princess Consort to mobilize more, but Ji Chu refuses.
Hua Qing Ge, who is standing outside the door, overhears their conversation and realizes that no matter what she has done, she cannot change the outcome."
Wei Nan Yi still goes to comfort Hua Qing Ge, but Hua Qing Ge says that she doesn't want Ji Chu. However, she ends up being scolded by Wei Nan Yi. In truth, Hua Qing Ge doesn't actually feel that way. She just wants to do something to protect everyone in the time she has left. Later that night, Ji Chu is targeted for assassination by the Empress's subordinate, but with Wei Nan Yi's help, Ji Chu only suffers a wrist injury. The Empress wants to kill all the princes. Ji Chu informs the Emperor about this, and he becomes furious. The Empress believes that she can lift her house arrest, but instead, she receives an edict that dethrones her, leading to her complete breakdown.
In truth, the Emperor has always only loved the Virtuous Concubine in his heart. In fact, back then, the Virtuous Concubine didn't want her son to become the Crown Prince. She just wanted Ji Chu to live a peaceful life. Gong Ye Qi also apologizes to Ji Chu and tells her that he regrets their fight, as both of them were injured.
Soon, Hua Qing Ge also learns that Ji Wan Er is not actually dead. Ji Wan Er is now going to be with Gong Ye Qi, and Gong Ye Qi is willing to let go of his hatred for her. Hua Qing Ge is overjoyed upon hearing this and offers to take charge of their wedding, promising to make it an unforgettable experience for them.
And so, with everyone's blessings, Ji Wan Er and Gong Ye Qi get married, finally able to be together as two people who love each other. Ji Chu can't help but want to hold Hua Qing Ge's hand, but Hua Qing Ge refuses.
