Episode 8 recap: Feng Yi Lun discovered that Yan Qijun had been married.
San Jie talked about Feng Yi Lun's father. Feng Yi Lun's father left when he was one year old, and San Jie has been taking care of Feng Yi Lun all these years. Miao A Cui asked about how they met, and San Jie said that she was dancing there at the time but accidentally fell. Feng Yi Lun's father handed her a handkerchief, and later she saw his black (hair) father and returned the handkerchief to him. Miao A Cui asked if Feng Yi Lun's father was powerful at that time, and San Jie said it wasn't as glamorous as it seemed.
San Jie drank a lot of alcohol and got drunk. Feng Yi Lun came back and helped San Jie to bed to sleep. Miao A Cui saw the photos there, and Feng Yi Lun said they were his parents. Miao A Cui was surprised and said that Feng Yi Lun was not San Jie's biological child. Feng Yi Lun said he was adopted by San Jie.
Feng Yi Lun came to find Huang Yu Shi mentioned by Lin Ruo Ning and asked how he managed to get away. Huang Yu Shi said her husband helped her pay the penalty, and Yan Qijun didn't make things difficult for her. Huang Yu Shi thought that Yan Qijun was not a bad person. She secretly followed her and found out that she donated money to the bank every month.
Feng Yi Lun investigated Yan Qijun's donation by asking a friend to inquire. This person is called Zhang Da Li. The friend went to his house and said he was Zhang Da Li's friend who came from Shanghai. The old lady in the house said that Zhang Da Li didn't have any friends and that he was at the casino. Feng Yi Lun's friend had to go there himself.
Feng Yi Lun's friend found Zhang Da Li at the casino. Zhang Da Li was gambling, but there were hidden rules in the casino, such as cheating, so Zhang Da Li and his friends have been losing money. They exposed the shady dealings at the casino. Zhang Da Li even lost a ring at the casino, but he didn't care much and considered it a lesson he bought with his own money.
Feng Yi Lun's friend expressed surprise at how generous Zhang Da Li was and asked if he was wealthy. Zhang Da Li said he was just an ordinary farmer. Feng Yi Lun's friend asked if it was because his sister-in-law (referring to Zhang Da Li's wife) came from a wealthy family. Zhang Da Li said his wife's name is Yan Qijun and she is a famous star from Shanghai. Feng Yi Lun's friend said he didn't believe it, so Zhang Da Li told him the story of how they met. During a drought in the north, Yan Qijun was sold by her parents and ended up with Zhang Da Li. His mother took pity on her and bought her to be his wife.
Later, Yan Qijun gave birth to a daughter but ran away after giving birth and went to Shanghai to become a big star. Feng Yi Lun's friend expressed disbelief at the situation and felt sorry for Zhang Da Li. He also mentioned that Yan Qijun was about to get married. Zhang Da Li said he knew about it and it was precisely because of this situation that he could control Yan Qijun. Every month, she would come to him for money.
Feng Yi Lun told Lin Ruo Ning about this, but Lin Ruo Ning was still hesitant. While Lin Ruo Ning was attending an interview, Yan Qijun brought a new contract to Lin Ruo Ning, stating that the terms remained the same and she wanted to renew the contract for another 20 years. Lin Ruo Ning was shocked and asked if she had done something wrong for Yan Qijun to treat her this way.
Yan Qijun mentioned that Lin Ruo Ning had secretly met Feng Yi Lun twice without informing her. Lin Ruo Ning admitted her mistake and promised not to see Feng Yi Lun again. Yan Qijun said that he needed to learn a lesson to realize his mistakes.
Lin Ruo Ning came to find Feng Yi Lun and mentioned that her mother passed away early, and it was her father who raised her.
