Episode 1 recap: Yun Tian and Han Ling Sha met for the first time.
The demon clan ran amok, causing great suffering to the people. The Qionghua Sect, the leading sect among the eight sects of Kunxu, exhausted three generations of manpower and resources to forge the dual swords, Wangshu Xi and Yinyang, held by Wang Shuxi. Nineteen years ago, the 24th generation sect master, Master Taiqing, intended to use the dual swords to restrain the demon realm. However, Wangshu Xi sword was influenced by some sort of enchantment and suddenly abandoned its purpose, leaving the other sword unable to withstand the pressure alone. After that battle, Master Taiqing perished, and the whereabouts of Wangshu Xi sword became unknown.
Yun Tian He wanted to leave Qingluan Peak, but he was scolded by his father and told that it was impossible for him to leave. Yun Tian He grew up gradually without ever venturing into the outside world, and his only companions were two pig demons. When Yun Tian He was chasing the pig demons, he encountered Han Ling Sha, who was holding a compass and searching for spiritual energy. Mistaking him for one of the pig demons, Yun Tian He approached Han Ling Sha.
Han Ling Sha also mistook Yun Tian He for a savage and was surprised. Accidentally, Han Ling Sha fell off a cliff but managed to grab onto a rope, avoiding any serious harm. Hearing a commotion outside, Yun Tian He thought his father's tomb had exploded and mistakenly believed it was the doing of Han Ling Sha, the pig demon, which made him furious.
Yun Tian He followed outside and questioned Han Ling Sha about his actions, but even Han Ling Sha found it inexplicable. The sword flew into Yun Tian He's hand, and Han Ling Sha no longer wanted to engage with Yun Tian He. Originally intending to escape, Han Ling Sha couldn't get far.
Yun Tian He finally realized his mistake, that Han Ling Sha was not a pig demon. Han Ling Sha was injured and asked Yun Tian He for support. However, Yun Tian He hesitated because his father had previously stated that men and women should not have close physical contact, which also made Han Ling Sha feel frustrated.
The big pig demon captured both Yun Tian He and Han Ling Sha. The two were tied together with a rope, very close to each other, which made Yun Tian He feel extremely awkward. The scent emanating from Han Ling Sha was very familiar to Yun Tian He, just like the scent of his own mother.
Although Yun Tian He had never seen his mother, he had a piece of clothing left behind by her that had the exact same scent.
Han Ling Sha said that they had a flint on them, but they couldn't reach it at the moment. They asked Yun Tian He to take it out and burn the rope. However, Yun Tian He was staring blankly at Han Ling Sha and didn't make a move. The two of them untied the rope and rushed forward, only to find the big pig demon tied up there. Han Ling Sha mentioned that there was an evil spirit nearby that wanted to escape first, but Yun Tian He disagreed, stating that in this place, all races were equal, and he had to rescue the pig demon.
The evil spirit emerged, but surprisingly, it appeared to be very afraid of Yun Tian He and called him "master." Han Ling Sha noticed that the door in front of them had opened and wanted to go in and take a look. Yun Tian He's father had never allowed him to enter this place before.
Although Yun Tian He was somewhat afraid of what his father had said, he didn't want to let Han Ling Sha go in alone, so he followed inside. It turned out to be the burial chamber of Yun Tian He's parents. Yun Tian He kowtowed a few times, wanting Han Ling Sha to leave, but Han Ling Sha didn't want to leave just yet.
Yun Tian He had never seen what his mother looked like because his father had never allowed him to see her. Yun Tian He was actually very curious, and upon hearing Han Ling Sha's words, he approached and took a look. Han Ling Sha, filled with curiosity, grasped the sword, but couldn't control it at all.
Yun Tian He came to help, but they couldn't gain control either. The sword emitted a powerful sword aura, attracting the attention of other cultivation sects. Feng Yao, the sect master of the Qionghua Sect, arrived and noticed that the response of the Xihu Sword (Wangshu Xi) was incredibly strong, suggesting that this sword could very well be the missing Wangshu Xi sword.
The most profound impression I have of Yun Tian Qing is his deep and unwavering affection. From their first meeting at Qiong Hua Sect, Yun Tian Qing has been enamored with Su Yu.
However, at that time, Su Yu's heart was only filled with Xuan Xiao. During the war between Qiong Hua Sect and the Demon Realm, Yun Tian Qing and Su Yu escaped together and eventually got married.
Many people say that Su Yu was unfair to Yun Tian Qing, and even until her death, her heart still longed for Xuan Xiao. But that's how emotions are, right? There's never absolute fairness in love.
Someone always loves a little more, someone loves a little less. But for Yun Tian Qing, his love for Su Yu was so profound. He searched the entire Huangshan Mountain to find the Yin Yang Purple Palace to keep Su Yu warm.
He even cultivated a technique to drive away the cold for Su Yu, but it backfired and harmed himself. Driven by love, he died without regrets. Yun Tian Qing's love for Su Yu is truly moving, and that's one of the reasons why I adore this character.
And it's exactly because of this that Yun Tian Qing became the most heart-wrenching character in "Xianjian Four.
In terms of the early plot, the game better interpreted the theme of seeking immortality, which was not well portrayed in the TV series. The storyline involving Liu An, the King of Huainan, in the game better conveyed the meaning of seeking immortality, while it was not reflected in the series.
The theme of "Xianjian 4" is about seeking immortality, or discussing whether longevity is the criterion for being an immortal. Does one cease to be an immortal if they do not achieve longevity?
Currently, the theme is not prominent and has been shortened. Additionally, the plot involving Lvluo, which actually expressed the consequences of different attitudes towards nature, has been cut.
It also discussed the attitudes of humans, demons, and immortals in this world.
I'll give my review after watching up to episode 5. The story seems to capture the essence of the game quite well, and the visual effects are impressive.
Yun Tian He, at least in the first few episodes that I've seen so far, comes across as a bit naive but pure-hearted. He's the kind of person who would do anything for his friends, incredibly pure and good-natured.
The voice acting also gives off a youthful vibe. I'm looking forward to seeing how the storyline develops as Yun Tian He grows, and I imagine his voice acting will become more mature.
I'm also curious about Jimo Huadeng. Chen Zhe Yuan's performance is great, and I've seen him before in "The Legend of the Little Fish." He was quite spirited in that role, so I'm excited to see how he performs in this drama.
Unlike other male protagonists in the "Xianjian" series, Yun Tian He grew up on Qing Luan Peak. With the early loss of his parents, he spent over a decade alone. He kept himself away from the hustle and bustle, oblivious to worldly affairs, like a clear river untainted by any impurities.
Every day, he would go hunting and play hide-and-seek with the wild boars on the mountain. If he found a boar, he would eat it. If not, he would try again next time. By a chance encounter, he met Han Ling Sha and was puzzled to see how a boar demon could transform into a human form.
When he finally realized that Han Ling Sha was the woman his father mentioned, he bluntly commented on how soft a woman's chest was. How simple and adorable Yun Tian He is!
On his first visit to Tai Ping Village, he swallowed the zongzi along with its wrapper and then remarked that the zongzi wasn't tasty.
When leaving the Liu family, he openly praised the pastries, making Han Ling Sha feel embarrassed. In Huai Nan Wang's tomb, he jokingly said he would "marry" both Han Ling Sha and Liu Meng Li.
When they were ambushed on Tai Yi Xian Path, he curiously asked about the meaning of dry rations. These situations truly bring laughter to people's hearts.
I'm glad to see a drama that combines friendship, love, and the greater good. The strong elements of fantasy and martial arts in the series cannot be separated from the efforts and dedication of the director, screenwriters, and actors.
I witnessed Yun Tian He's transformation from ignorance to maturity and responsibility as he upholds his beliefs to save the people and sacrifice himself for others.
I also saw Han Ling Sha living without fear of destiny, embodying the phrase "My fate is determined by myself, not by heaven." However, I was also moved by her selflessness and dedication to enable Tian He to follow the right path without complaint.
Mian Li is a gentle yet powerful presence in the four-person team. She trusts and never abandons Tian He, Mian Li, and Zi Ying, even though she knows that she has a grudge against them due to her own background.
Zi Ying evolves from initial arrogance and coldness to a more genuine and cheerful character. He gains a deeper understanding of the relationship between humans and demons and realizes the meaning of the last words spoken by his master.
In the end, he contributes to the peaceful coexistence of humans and demons. They are a team but also independent individuals. Although the four-person team fails to fulfill their promise of never leaving each other, they find happiness in another parallel world.
I believe they will not regret their sacrifices to protect the world and its people because their hearts are united in seeking peace and prosperity for all. Through "The Legend of Sword and Fairy 4," I also learned that one must consider the consequences of their actions and not harm others for selfish desires.
Thank you, "The Legend of Sword and Fairy 4," for accompanying me this past month. I have gained many insights, but all good things must come to an end. Once again, I thank the director, screenwriters, cast, and crew for their dedication and efforts.
I wish you all a better future. "The Legend of Sword and Fairy 3," never say goodbye.
