Episode 6 recap: Yun Tian He and others solved the problem.
Han Ling Sha stabbed Yun Tian He, and Yun Tian He recounted their first encounter to awaken Han Ling Sha's memory. The Southern King stated that Han Ling Sha possessed an extremely rare extreme cold physique, and if she stayed here, she could help him escape, so he would release Yun Tian He and the others.
The Southern King expressed his regret for being deceived by a despicable Taoist and consuming poisonous pills. He feared his own retaliation and sealed himself here. The Southern King mentioned that he was about to leave, but Yun Tian Qing sealed him back. The Southern King declared his intention to kill all the cultivators once he escaped, to which Yun Tian He remarked that it was well-deserved.
Many missing people were caused by the Southern King's actions, but what the Southern King desired the most was Han Ling Sha, as she could assist him in his escape. Yun Tian He, of course, would not let the Southern King take Han Ling Sha away and fought against him. Yun Tian He wielded the Wangshu Sword, making the Southern King no match, and swiftly defeated him.
With the Southern King dead, Mu Rong Zi Ying was safe. Han Ling Sha fainted, and another figure resembling Han Ling Sha appeared. Han Ling Sha was surprised to see this person and wondered if it was her own spiritual essence separated from her body after death.
The figure explained that when the Southern King died, he had a hundred and eight maidens buried here as sacrifices. The maidens' spiritual powers condensed into a faceless entity called "Wu Mian." As they were formed from all the holy maidens, they had no face. If they feared someone's death, they would assume the appearance of that person. Wu Mian informed them that the tomb here was about to collapse and urged Han Ling Sha and the others to leave quickly.
Han Ling Sha finally understood what was happening. Wu Mian revealed that Yun Tian He's father reinforced the seal to help them. Now, they were repaying the favor by assisting Yun Tian He and the others. Yun Tian He came to realize that his father sealed the Southern King to save more people.
Han Ling Sha felt remorseful, realizing that after entering this place, all she had thought about was immortality, without considering the concerns of others.
Liu Meng Li asked Han Ling Sha if she had fallen ill, given her obsession with immortality. Han Ling Sha explained that her parents had passed away at an early age, which contributed to her mindset.
After Yun Tian He and the others went out, they discovered Mu Rong Zi Ying in a coma. Xuan Ji and the others also arrived and got into an argument with Han Ling Sha and her group, ultimately parting ways on bad terms. Master Liu was concerned about any complications regarding the wedding and wanted it to be settled early.
When Han Ling Sha returned and saw the festive decorations, she learned that it was for Yun Tian He and Liu Meng Li's wedding, which left her feeling depressed. Han Ling Sha wanted Yun Tian He and the Wangshu Sword to be taken away first and then have Yun Tian He return after the wedding.
Master Liu urged Yun Tian He and Liu Meng Li to proceed with the marriage, but Liu Meng Li refused. She wanted to marry the person she loved, even if it went against her parents' wishes. Master Liu mentioned that it was Yun Tian He's father's intention, and Yun Tian He immediately agreed, despite not understanding what marriage meant at all.
Liu Meng Li found it strange, considering Yun Tian He was known for his free-spirited nature, why would he have such a request. Han Ling Sha came over to attend the wedding banquet and was equally surprised. However, Liu Meng Li still declined, and Yun Tian He remained clueless. Master Liu presented Liu Meng Li with two options: either stay at home or disregard their fate.
Liu Meng Li stated that even if she didn't want herself, she wouldn't reject her parents' wishes. Master Liu couldn't force them any further and had to let it go for now. Han Ling Sha went outside and encountered a group of black-clad individuals. Xuan Zhao mentioned that they were following the orders of the elders to take Yun Tian He away. Xuan Ying and his group fought against them and eliminated them, claiming that the usurpers were dead.
Liu Meng Li is truly the strongest psychological mentor in Xianjian! This family truly cannot be without Liu Meng Li! She feels like the most emotionally stable, experienced, knowledgeable, and talented member of the trio.
Tianhe is naive and unfamiliar with the ways of the world, but she patiently guides him in understanding the meaning of liking and love, teaching him that emotions are something that cannot be shared with others.
When Shasha is affected by Qinxin's story and breaks down in tears, Liu Meng Li patiently consoles her, comforting her that even if she stays by her sister's side and guards her, it won't erase the pain and guilt in her heart.
As long as she does her best to strive for the ones she loves, it's enough. She is working hard to change her sister's destiny, but isn't her sister also living and striving for her sake...
Oh my, I finally understand what effective comfort means.
Yun Tian Qing's character is impeccable! No wonder Yun Tian He is so upright and sunny! Although it was mentioned many times in the drama that Yun Tian He doesn't resemble his father in appearance, his kind and honest personality is exactly like his father's.
He takes every word of his father's teachings to heart. "Life is unpredictable, the most important thing is to be happy and free," "Everyone will die eventually, there's no point in crying," "Life and death are in our hands, change comes from within.
The earth cannot bury us, the heavens cannot harm us. This is my destiny, it lies within me and not in the heavens," "Gratitude for a drop of water should be expressed as a gushing spring," "Saving a life is more meritorious than building a seven-story pagoda"....
Yun Tian Qing is truly an excellent educator, which is why we see Yun Tian He as such an upright, kind, and sunny character!
In fact, it's really difficult to adapt a game into a TV drama and achieve the same level of uniqueness. No matter who the lead actor is, it's impossible to replicate the effects of the game because special effects and real people can never be the same.
This is a simple truth. So when watching the drama, we need to separate it from the game in order to focus on the story itself. Currently, I have high hopes for the male lead, Chen Zhe Yuan.
At least Yun Tian He's innocence and naivety are portrayed quite well. I'll continue watching Tomorrow's Drama to see how the character develops and how the actor changes.
I have confidence in Chen Zhe Yuan because I heard that he read the original novel six times in order to portray Xiao Yuer effectively. I believe that hard work leads to growth.
In terms of the plot, it doesn't convey the intended meaning of the game's storyline. Following the original work, which is the game, Huainan King Liu An expressed his understanding of cultivation. The game explicitly conveys certain ideas, but the drama's plot is not as clear.
Lüluo, who represents humanity's attitude towards nature in the game, hasn't been portrayed in the plot so far. The concept of cultivation hasn't been properly introduced in the plot either. Immortal Sword Four mainly highlights two aspects of cultivation: immortality and the attitude towards non-immortality.
Some characters have made attempts to achieve immortality, but the consequences haven't been well depicted in the plot. In fact, Immortal Sword Four shouldn't just focus on romance; it should explore the concept of immortals and what it truly means to be one.
Is immortality the sole definition of an immortal? Does being mortal mean one can't be considered an immortal? These aspects haven't been well established in the earlier episodes.
