Episode 1 recap: A Jiu was collecting herbs and encountered a spiritual creature.
Since the celestial dew descended from the heavens, on every full moon night, supernatural beings would come out to devour humans. In response, the imperial court issued a decree to gather medicinal herbs and established the Bureau of Upper Purity to capture these supernatural beings. Jiu Ming was the head of the Bureau of Upper Purity. One day, he successfully captured a supernatural being and stored the transformed medicinal herbs in a brocade box. Han Ye, a hunter, congratulated Jiu Ming on his success. However, to Han Ye's surprise, Jiu Ming removed his mask and transformed into the physician A Jiu, proceeding alone into the deep mountains.
A Jiu looked happily at the herbs on the cliff but before he could collect them, he felt the poisonous gas of aconite. The Aconite Spirit revealed itself and expressed the need for a bit of male essence after spending too long in the mountains. It made a move towards A Jiu, who was forced to fall off the cliff. The Aconite Spirit, witnessing A Jiu breaking through the herbal barrier, couldn't help but become suspicious, unable to fathom how an ordinary mortal possessed such ability.
Bluish-green Root had been cultivating within the herbal barrier for a hundred years. Despite that, she remained a low-level supernatural being. While feeling frustrated, she was unexpectedly splashed with water, reverting her to human form to investigate the cause. When she saw A Jiu in the water pool, her eyes lit up. Immediately, she decided to form a spiritual bond with A Jiu and asked him to take her down the mountain.
The Aconite Spirit came searching for A Jiu's whereabouts and, finding Bluish-green Root acting suspiciously, attacked her. This led to her discovery of A Jiu. To her surprise, Bluish-green Root directly formed a spiritual bond with A Jiu, drawing spiritual energy from him to defeat the Aconite Spirit. The Aconite Spirit, filled with anger and resentment, planned to report Bluish-green Root's secret spiritual bond to the elders. However, Bluish-green Root only wanted A Jiu to quickly take her down the mountain.
