Episode 9 recap: Blue's reputation as a doctor is soaring.
Elder Can recognized that A Jiu is no ordinary person and held him in high regard. He hoped that A Jiu wouldn't blame the Herb Village and A Jiu quickly explained that he was worried about Blue, which is why he followed. Huang Qi had feelings for Blue and even wanted to consummate their relationship, but Blue didn't like him at all. Blue made it clear that there was no formal ceremony between them and advised Huang Qi to find someone else to marry.
Elder Can noticed that Blue was eavesdropping outside the room and called her in. He questioned why she hadn't severed her spiritual bond with A Jiu despite assuming human form. A Jiu explained on behalf of Blue, stating that in the City of Beiming, maintaining the spiritual bond was necessary to ensure Blue's safety. Elder Can explained that if Blue didn't marry Huang Qi, she would lose the opportunity to become an immortal. However, Blue didn't want to become an immortal; she only wanted to be with A Jiu and experience love.
Elder Can recounted the story of Fu Ling, who had descended to the mortal world for the sake of a mortal man. However, the man betrayed Fu Ling to save himself, causing Fu Ling to lose her immortality and become insane. Blue firmly believed that A Jiu was someone she could trust, and A Jiu made a solemn vow to never let her down. They returned to the Hundred Herb Hall together.
A Jiu had a sudden nightmare about something happening to Blue, which greatly frightened him. It wasn't until he woke up and saw Blue perfectly fine that he could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Blue took over A Jiu's duties as a doctor, and with a single dose of medicine, she cured the patients, gaining instant fame. When Crown Prince Ye heard about this, he planned to visit the Hundred Herb Hall to investigate the matter.
