Episode 19 recap: Mu Di went to school to become a teacher.
Xiao Yu's mother asked Da Lei about the certainty of continuing together with Xiao Yu, and Da Lei said it was 50%. He had a 50% certainty about marriage, and the other 50% was left to life. Within his 50%, Xiao Yu was his whole world. Xiao Yu's mother was touched by his words, while others urged Da Lei to change his statement. Da Lei then called Xiao Yu's mother "mom," and Xiao Yu came forward and hugged her mother, while everyone applauded.
On the bus, Mu Di played Suona (a traditional Chinese wind instrument) for the couple, and everyone was happy. On the way back, Mu Di and the others were silent. Mu Di remembered her answer to the interviewer during the second-round interview. She said that when performing in the theater, she influenced others under the spotlight, and in school, she would send students to the spotlight to pass on her dreams to them. The interviewer was impressed with her response.
On the bus, Mu Di received a phone call notifying her that she had been hired. Someone asked Bai Lang if Mu Di would come back to work, and Bai Lang confirmed it, telling them not to worry. The person admired Bai Lang's ability to convince Mu Di. Ding Yi came to find Bai Lang and asked for advice on how to confess to Mu Di. Bai Lang became incoherent in his speech, and when Ding Yi listed his own conditions, Bai Lang's smile turned bitter. Bai Lang told Ding Yi to speak his mind, and Ding Yi confessed his feelings to Mu Di. He said he had liked Mu Di since their school days and expressed many heartfelt words. Mu Di said that if she wanted a stable and settled life, Ding Yi would indeed be a good choice, and she thought they would be happy together. However, she didn't feel a spark with him, and he should be with a better girl. Ding Yi smiled bitterly, and Mu Di thanked him for his affection.
The next day, Mu Di went to the company to pack her things. Bai Lang asked her where she was going, and Mu Di said she was going to work as a teacher at an experimental primary school. Bai Lang stuttered and asked if she was together with Ding Yi. Mu Di said that Ding Yi did confess to her, but she didn't accept. Bai Lang breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this. Bai Lang wanted to persuade Mu Di to stay at the company, but Mu Di declined.
Mu Di also told her parents about her plans. Mu's mother and father were happy, but Mu Tong saw the essence through the phenomenon and believed that Mu Di was wasting the years of persistence in playing the Suona. Upon hearing Mu Tong's words, Mu Di felt it was a pity, but she couldn't find a better choice than becoming a teacher, and her family couldn't come up with any counterarguments.
In the room, Mu Tong brought up the matter again, but Mu Di said she already knew about her mother's illness and that it was time for her to take on the responsibility of the family. She offered to share the burden with Mu Tong, who still felt heartache for her. Mu Di comforted her.
At school, Mu Di was completely unable to handle the mischievous children. During class, the students ignored her and kept chatting.
Qu Wen Wen went to William's house and found it in a mess. William was engrossed in playing games and had a rude attitude towards Qu Wen Wen's concerned inquiries. Qu Wen Wen angrily turned off the game screen and asked why he had changed his behavior after promising her before. Upon hearing this, William exploded and shouted, "Do promises have to be kept? Why did others promise me but never fulfill them?" Qu Wen Wen sat next to William and asked what had happened. William explained everything to her, but Qu Wen Wen was disappointed by his constant avoidance and left.
Qu Wen Wen made an appointment with Mu Di and told her about what had happened with William recently. She pleaded with Mu Di to return to the company and help William. Mu Di hesitated. Mu Di went to William's house to talk to him. William said he had originally wanted to rely on her for support, but in the end, both of them became deserters. Mu Di explained that she had initially promised him because she appreciated his passion for music, but now she couldn't provide value to him anymore. She told him to think it through and then left.
Bai Lang chatted with the owner of the erhu and pancake stall and brought up Mu Di's situation. The owner strongly urged Bai Lang to convince Mu Di not to give up playing the Suona. Bai Lang nodded in agreement. Wei in the East came back and seeing the intoxicated Mu Tong from the social gathering, felt sorry for her and hugged her to comfort her.
