Episode 9 recap: Bai Lang sold the company to William.
At the wedding venue, Mu Di's performance was perfectly executed. Mu Di's suona performance at Mr. Li's second wedding went viral online, and netizens loved it. Mu Di became a local celebrity in Wei Hai, and everyone wanted him to perform. The small town's stories gained popularity, business increased, and even the company approached Bai Lang and their team for collaboration. However, Bai Lang was worried that Mu Di would eventually leave. When Huang Jin heard Bai Lang express his concerns, he suspected that Bai Lang had developed feelings for Mu Di. Bai Lang denied it.
According to their agreement, William took Qu Wen Wen out for dinner. They went to an expensive Western restaurant, but Qu Wen Wen knew that William didn't actually like the place and only thought it was expensive. She suggested changing to a more relaxed restaurant where both of them could feel comfortable. Qu Wen Wen also revealed that she was one of the owners of the current restaurant, which shocked William.
They later went to a bar, and William asked Qu Wen Wen why she chose that place. Qu Wen Wen said it was her territory and the place where she could relax the most. She also mentioned that if William truly wanted to thank her, he should sing a song for her. William gladly agreed, took off his coat, and went on stage, announcing that he would sing a song for Miss Qu Wen Wen. Xu Huan, who was sitting on the other side of the bar, witnessed their intimate actions and felt disheartened. Xu Huan's friends encouraged her to confront William and confess her feelings. Provoked by their words, Xu Huan walked up to William and confessed her feelings. William wanted to reject her but was afraid of hurting her. Qu Wen Wen, who had witnessed the whole scene, intervened, escorted William away, and introduced herself to Xu Huan. She straightforwardly told Xu Huan that they had no chance together, regardless of her presence. Xu Huan refused to accept it and declared that she wouldn't give up. Qu Wen Wen smiled and wished her good luck.
On the way back home, Qu Wen Wen suggested that William should start a music company with Mu Di. William mentioned that Mu Di had previously rejected his proposal, but Qu Wen Wen encouraged him nonetheless. William asked if Qu Wen Wen had any good suggestions, and she proposed finding someone who could persuade Mu Di to reconsider. William suddenly realized and felt happy, and they continued walking happily together.
Ding Yi came to the company again looking for Mu Di, but since Mu Di wasn't there, he started complaining to Bai Lang. Bai Lang remained silent, and Ding Yi asked Bai Lang to help him figure out a solution. Bai Lang refused, and Ding Yi threatened to come eight times a day in the future, annoying Bai Lang. As soon as Ding Yi left, William arrived. William was much more polite than Ding Yi, and Bai Lang asked him angrily what he wanted. William enticed Bai Lang with a commission fee and requested his help in convincing Mu Di to start a music company with him. Bai Lang felt like William was trying to steal Mu Di away and became unwilling to assist. Huang Jin, who had been observing the situation, saw the bigger picture. Mu Di didn't belong to any of them anymore, and if Mu Di returned to Beijing, they would all lose everything. They needed to sit down together and come up with a solution.
Mu Di was originally going to the company when he ran into his colleague Ding Yi. In an effort to help Ding Yi find a partner, the colleague falsely claimed that Ding Yi had an urgent matter to discuss with Mu Di at the police station. Trusting the information, Mu Di went to the police station. Soon after, Ding Yi received the message and hurriedly returned to the station to meet Mu Di. They exchanged a few words before Mu Di left.
In the evening, the group from "Small Town Stories" gathered together and informed Bai Lang of their perfect plan. They proposed selling 90% of the shares of "Small Town Stories" to William, ensuring an ideal outcome for everyone. Bai Lang was hesitant and believed that this was essentially selling Mu Di, which didn't sit well with him.
Bai Lang knew that selling the company would allow him and his brothers to live a good life. However, it would also mean the end of his relationship with Mu Di. The time he spent with Mu Di was the happiest in Bai Lang's many years. But for the sake of livelihood, he had no choice. Bai Lang decided to sell the company.
When William received the contract, he was ecstatic and asked how much they were asking for. Huang Jin raised a finger, and William enthusiastically shouted, "Okay, one million!" He proceeded to transfer the money through his phone, leaving Bai Lang and Huang Jin astonished.
William happily rushed to the company and announced the transfer of ownership to Mu Di, who was sweeping the floor. Upon hearing that William had spent one million to acquire the company, Mu Di was speechless. He left to find Bai Lang, but Bai Lang avoided his calls.
