Episode 35 recap: Yue Jin Zhao has permanently left Qi Yingxu, anxiously awaiting Ge Qingfei's awakening.
The gravely injured Qi was informed by the present circumstances that Zhu Yu was attempting to restore her connection with the Mist Soul. Qi couldn't allow that to happen, as so many lives would have been sacrificed in vain. Qi assured Zhu Yu to trust her and leave the rest to her. Qi activated the Thought Sword and approached Zhu Yu slowly. Her thoughts were a reflection of the myriad emotions of humanity, a companion in moving forward with courage, the Gu Han Jiang and Ju Shi Fang who died for the sake of the world.
Qi ascended, and Yue Jin Zhao witnessed her unleashing astonishing power. However, at this moment, she struggled internally. She had to face her own mother, but she was also a demon threatening the lives of the Six Realms. In that brief moment of hesitation, Zhu Yu subdued her with a single move, causing her to fall into a deep sleep. Yue Jin Zhao rushed over and called out to Qi, but was struck by Zhu Yu's spell and coughed up blood.
In the last moments of Yue Jin Zhao's life, he made a desperate attempt to establish resonance with Qi. Suddenly, Qi awakened and realized that she had entered his consciousness. She couldn't be deceived by Zhu Yu and broke free from her, then struck Zhu Yu heavily with the Thought Sword. Qi looked at the gradually slumbering Zhu Yu with mixed emotions, while Zhu Yu praised her for doing well.
Upon seeing Zhu Yu disappear in front of her, Qi finally called out "Mother." As Zhu Yu vanished, the bodies of Su Xuan and Hailuo gradually flew away and disappeared. Luo Zhao Yan woke up and saw that Xian Qing's hair had turned completely white. She didn't know that Yue Jin Zhao's time was running out. He didn't want her to see him in his final moments, so he asked her to buy candied hawthorns for him. Yue Jin Zhao watched Qi's figure from a distance and gradually closed his eyes. Qi saw this and the candied hawthorns fell from her hands.
Ying Xuwei personally cleaned and tidied up Ge Qingfei's appearance, but he himself coughed up blood once again. Tears streaming down his face, he called out to Ge Qingfei, urging her to wake up quickly, as his time was running short. Xiao Yuan, outside the room, saw this scene and couldn't help but cover her mouth and cry. Qi slept on the table and, upon waking up, saw a pair of fish-shaped jade pendants. Ming Xiu came in to visit her and once again reminded her that Yue Jin Zhao was dead. Luo Zhao Yan felt it was cruel to tell Qi like this, but Ming Xiu said that Qi had to learn to accept it. If even the person who loved her the most had died, how long could their friends accompany her? Luo Zhao Yan comforted Qi and told her to rest for a while, but Qi sorrowfully said that she was very hungry. Ming Xiu and Luo Zhao Yan brought her egg noodles. Today was Qi and Ge Qingfei's birthdays, but as Qi ate, she couldn't help but think of Yue Jin Zhao. Every word she spoke was connected to him.
It wasn't until they finished eating and no one wiped her mouth that Qi realized what it meant for someone to be dead, that the person who loved and cared for her would never return. Qi burst into tears, feeling a huge void in her heart. But with Yue Jin Zhao gone, who would see her crying? She expressed her gratitude to Luo Zhao Yan and Ming Xiu, thanking them for their concern over the past few days. Now that she had cried, she wouldn't cry anymore.
As Qi walked out, Luo Zhao Yan believed that Qi was stronger than they had imagined. Qi went to find Ying Xuwei and saw Xiao Yuan crying outside the door, but she didn't want to talk much with Qi. Qi said that people had to grow up because no one would forever bear the burdens meant for someone else.
I really love the sense of destiny in this drama. Although it can be a bit sad at times, there's a feeling of predestined fate, and it seems like the past and present storylines align perfectly. Even early on, there were hints and foreshadowing for future plot developments.
When you're still happily watching in the beginning, little did you know that deep wounds were already being inflicted for the later heartbreaking scenes.
For example, during the prophecy, it was mentioned that their small team would lose two members, but no one expected the departure to come so soon, and even the protagonist was one of the casualties.
The plot progresses at a rapid pace, and it feels like we haven't had enough of watching the six of them conquer the world before they are separated... Even the backgrounds of Yue Qi and Yue Jin Zhao are shrouded in mystery. At first, I thought this drama would be a sweet little story, but I never expected such immense sadness to be hidden within.
The later plot really struck a chord, especially with Bian Luohan. I still can't let go... But Yue Jin Zhao is not at fault either. He has always been protecting Yue Qi, and they have relied on each other when their memories were blank slates.
