Episode 8 recap: Building a home in the city.
Long Ao Tian and Liu Bo got into a fight here, and they were evenly matched. Liu Bo even bit Long Ao Tian on the mouth. Eventually, they called it quits and stopped fighting. Long Ao Tian wondered if Liu Bo was like a dog since he resorted to biting. With the fight over, both of them went back home, agreeing to continue the next day. However, they received news that led them to fight again. They managed to capture Mr. Sun, who was trying to escape. Long Ao Tian and Liu Bo decided to keep him and educate their children together. Liu Baixin brought Mr. Sun over and said they could enjoy a feast today and eat until they were half full.
Unexpectedly, before they could start eating, arrows came flying in their direction. Liu Bo quickly used the things around to shield them, assuring Mr. Sun that he could continue eating without worry. Liu Bo's son, Liu Lang, was also present, and Liu Bo asked him to learn from Mr. Sun. However, Mr. Sun wasn't very willing to teach.
Mr. Sun asked Liu Lang about his knowledge, but Liu Lang hadn't studied much and didn't know anything. The food remained untouched, and although they wanted to eat, they didn't get the chance to have more than a few bites. Long Ao Tian also brought his daughter along, which worried Mr. Sun. However, Liu Bo reassured him that Long Ao Tian and his daughter came to study together. They had discovered Mr. Sun together, so they had already discussed and agreed to attend classes together.
Arrows came flying in their direction, which frightened Mr. Sun. Long Ao Tian and Liu Bo quickly used objects around them to shield themselves and pretended to fight. Unfortunately, this was heard by a spy from their side. In reality, the spy didn't want to engage in warfare either. He had brought his own son along and suggested that Mr. Sun teach them together.
Mr. Sun thought that teaching one or two children was the same as teaching all of them, so they might as well learn together. Mr. Sun taught them idioms, but they didn't understand because they had never seen or experienced such things before. The idioms they usually learned were about battles and bravery. Mr. Sun then realized that these children were not their own; they were local villagers' children who hadn't received orders to retreat and had been left behind. They were taken care of out of pity.
Arrows came flying in their direction again, but Long Ao Tian and the others used shields to protect themselves, assuring Mr. Sun that he only needed to focus on teaching the children. Mr. Sun was deeply moved and taught everyone an ancient poem: "At fifteen, I set out on a military campaign; at eighty, I returned home victorious." While Long Ao Tian and the others held shields to protect themselves, they also listened to Mr. Sun reciting the poem, reminiscent of their days studying in the school.
The "Young Master and Me" series, currently my favorite is Episode 8, "The Cheng Family's Establishment." After just finishing "Dog Left Behind," seeing Jiang Long gave me a sense of familiarity, and it made me sigh at the suffering of all beings in times of war and chaos.
Whether it's the Anti-Japanese War or the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict...
