Episode 34 recap: Xiao Lin is suspected of being unfaithful.
Xia Ming Zhou keeps making everyone attend meetings to study, which provokes complaints from the elderly. He has also complained to Xiao Chang Qing. Xiao Lin keeps going out frequently and often returns home late. When Ma Ling asks him about it, he says he's been working overtime at the office. Ma Ling checked with the office, but Xiao Lin was not there, so she suspects he is having an affair.
She shares her suspicions with Xiao Chang Qing, and soon Sun Qian Cheng also finds out. He accompanies Xiao Chang Qing to secretly follow Xiao Lin, and they discover him going to a bar. Xiao Lin returns home very late and lies to Ma Ling that he was working overtime, but she sees through his deception and does not confront him directly.
The next day, Ma Ling goes to the retirement home to talk to Xiao Chang Qing. She suspects Xiao Lin is having an affair. Xiao Chang Qing says Xiao Lin is an honest and upright person, and he may just be distracted due to work issues. However, Ma Ling has discreetly inquired, and Xiao Lin's work is going well, with Yuan Ying Shi even giving him a raise, so she is highly suspicious that something is amiss.
Ma Ling clearly states that if Xiao Lin is having an affair, she will divorce him and not allow him to see their children. Xiao Chang Qing realizes the situation is serious. He then calls Xiao Lin and asks him to come visit his grandmother over the weekend, but Xiao Lin declines, citing a busy work schedule and postpones the meeting to the following week.
Xiao Chang Qing then discreetly inquires with Chen Xin Cheng and learns that the New City Group does not encourage weekend overtime, so Xiao Lin may be lying. He informs Sun Qian Cheng, who has more experience, and they discuss how they can discreetly investigate Xiao Lin.
So the two old men stake out Xiao Lin's home on the weekend, and sure enough, Xiao Lin receives a call from Da Zhi and leaves the house, despite saying he wouldn't go.
As they were eating noodles at the alley entrance, thinking Xiao Lin wouldn't go out again, Xiao Chang Qing receives a call from Ma Ling, who tells him that Xiao Lin has received a call and left the house again.
As soon as Ma Ling finishes speaking, Xiao Chang Qing and Sun Qian Cheng see Xiao Lin's car driving out, so they quickly take a taxi to follow him. They find that Xiao Lin is driving straight to the bar.
Their suspicion grows, so they go inside to look for him. They don't catch Xiao Lin being unfaithful, but instead see Xiao Lin, Xiao Qing, and Da Zhi on the stage, with Xiao Qing singing, Da Zhi on drums, and Xiao Lin playing guitar accompaniment.
Sun Qian Cheng is delighted and records this scene on his phone, before being pulled away by Xiao Chang Qing. Back home, Xiao Chang Qing scolds Chen Xin Cheng's son Da Zhi for leading Xiao Lin astray. Xia Ming Zhou initially joins in criticizing Chen Xin Cheng, but then turns to suspect that it was Xiao Lin who initiated bringing Xiao Qing and Da Zhi to the bar.
Sun Qian Cheng remains uninvolved, happily watching his daughter's singing video in the corner. Xia Ming Zhou pulls him over, and Sun Qian Cheng feels Xiao Qing seems happy at least. Chen Xin Cheng goes home to scold Da Zhi, but he doesn't listen.
Xia Ming Zhou also earnestly talks to Xiao Qing, but she in turn persuades her mother to support her, as she enjoys the feeling of people applauding for her. Xiao Chang Qing picks Xiao Lin up from work and has an open conversation with him in the car. Xiao Lin doesn't seem concerned, but when Xiao Chang Qing says he's not allowed to sing at the bar anymore, Xiao Lin agrees, but his smile disappears.
That night, Xiao Lin is honest with Ma Ling, but she also doesn't understand his late nights playing music, since he's already a father of two. Xiao Lin doesn't say much, and personally smashes his guitar.
Sun Qian Cheng shares his thoughts with the other three. Xiao Chang Qing and Chen Xin Cheng are more practical, still believing the young people should focus on stable work and living.
Without Xiao Lin, the Bone band is forced to disband, which also upsets Sun Qian Cheng. Da Zhi and Xiao Qing refocus their energy on work, working overtime and holding meetings to edit their films. Xiao Lin's workload increases, with him working late after dinner, and everyone's lives seem to return to normal, but they are not truly happy.
