Episode 8 recap: Huang Yingzi and Fang Mingyu had a fight.
The next day, Huang Yingzi went to the park early in the morning to find Ding Ye. Ding Ye was playing chess with an old man, but he was not very skilled and soon lost. Huang Yingzi later complained to him about it. Huang Yingzi also mentioned that she had liked Ding Ye since she was young, and it was because of reading his books that she had the motivation to study.
When Huang Yingzi was in high school, her grades were very poor, and she even got scolded by the headmaster. Jiang Yi's gaze was always on Huang Yingzi, criticizing her verbally but secretly worrying about her. Huang Yingzi also found Guan Chao and talked about how she wanted to interview Ding Ye, but Ding Ye refused to accompany her no matter what. So now she wanted Guan Chao to help find some clues about Ding Ye's college years.
Jiang Yi was still talking to the leaders about why he agreed to join the company on the condition of continuing his own project, but now the leaders suddenly put a stop to it. He was having a hard time accepting it, and Jiang Yi wanted to fight for himself, which led to a disagreement in the meeting room. Chloe was trying to mediate and hoped that the relationship wouldn't become too strained.
Guan Chao also told Huang Yingzi a secret, that Jiang Yi's so-called girlfriend actually had a boyfriend who was Spider-Man. After seeing the photos, Huang Yingzi suddenly realized that they had all been fooled by Jiang Yi, and he didn't have a girlfriend at all. With this revelation, Huang Yingzi felt relieved. During his lunch break, Jiang Yi went to a café to have coffee and ran into Chloe. Chloe indirectly told him that if he wanted to win, he needed to stay calm, or else he would achieve nothing.
In the evening, Jiang Yi went to have dinner with Liu Mingyu. Liu Mingyu commented that Jiang Yi had changed a lot. Jiang Yi was curious why she didn't come to the gathering that day. Liu Mingyu could only make an excuse that she couldn't leave because of work. Jiang Yi had initially wanted to improve their relationship, but after hearing that certain things had happened, Liu Mingyu felt it was impossible to go back.
Time went back to 2012, after the incident with Lan Yifei, and Liu Mingyu didn't know how to face Huang Yingzi. Seeing Liu Mingyu in her bedroom looking at her phone, her mother thought she was in a romantic relationship. Liu Mingyu wanted to argue, but her mother told her that once she met someone she liked, she should cherish it.
Actually, at that time, Liu Mingyu already had a boyfriend, and they had been in a relationship for many years. Huang Yingzi would still message Jiang Yi on QQ when she had time, but she never received any replies. Liu Mingyu repeatedly emphasized that Huang Yingzi must have misunderstood, but Huang Yingzi was convinced that she hadn't. As a result of this incident, Liu Mingyu became extremely angry and felt that Huang Yingzi was being too nosy. She said that everyone was moving forward, but Huang Yingzi was still stuck in the past. Liu Mingyu also mentioned that once certain things happened, they could never go back.
