Episode 5 recap: The Lin family had an incident.
Song Shi Jie decided to sign a family agreement, stating three rules, and asked Song A Jiu and Xiao Feng to be witnesses. Ling Long didn't understand why they needed such an agreement when they were a family. She thought it was a bit excessive. Song A Jiu recited that anyone who engaged in violence would be divorced.
However, Xiao Feng felt that it was unfair to Ling Long. Xiao Feng believed that Ling Long liked Song Shi Jie and would never divorce him. Ling Long, on the other hand, didn't think it was a big deal to put a fingerprint on a piece of paper. She even said that if Song Shi Jie didn't like her the way she was, she would change herself.
Song Shi Jie felt triumphant, thinking that he had the upper hand. Although there was a joyous occasion in the Lin family, the groom didn't seem to be well-received and was scolded by Lin Lao Ye (the Lin family patriarch). Kuo Shao Long, Kuo Shao Hu, and Kuo Shao Bao, who had fallen into ruin due to gambling, wanted to have a wedding feast but were kicked out by Lin Lao Ye.
Ling Long thought that it was not good to clarify things during heavy rain, but He Shou Xin believed that rain was a sign of good luck. Lin Lao Ye didn't like Song Shi Jie, considering him to be just a strong man who liked to talk. Ling Long noticed that Tang Wenwu (Song Shi Jie's real name) didn't receive favorable treatment from his father-in-law. Lin Lao Ban (Lin Lao Ye's respectful title) urged his son-in-law to call his daughter for dinner. As soon as Tang Wenwu entered, he discovered Lin Hui Min's suicide note. Lin Lao Ban became extremely worried when he learned that his daughter was missing. Song Shi Jie told Ling Long that Lin Hui Min had committed suicide, which surprised Ling Long. Song Shi Jie saw that they only had a small amount of money, so he demanded one hundred taels of silver, otherwise, he wouldn't help them. Ling Long was starting to find it hard to watch. Just as Tang Wenwu was leaving, Lin Yuanwai (a respectful title) arrived and asked Song Shi Jie to help them with the lawsuit and have Tang Wenwu imprisoned.
Lin Yuanwai generously gave Song Shi Jie five hundred taels of silver. Ling Long was furious at Song Shi Jie's greedy and unjust behavior. Kuo Shao Long and the others had great faith in Tang Wenwu's character. When Sun Da Niang (Sun Da Shen's wife) heard that a lawyer named Yang Ming was willing to help them with the lawsuit without charging any money, she became very happy.
Ling Long changed her appearance, hoping to attract her husband's attention. Song A Jiu suppressed the urge to vomit as he looked at Ling Long's appearance. He Shou Xin also thought that Ling Long had gone astray. Xiao Feng told Ling Long that the makeup on her face was the most popular style among foreigners.

When the neighbors came out, they said that Miss Lin was lazy and had a fierce temperament. The audience, hearing only one side of the story, demanded his release. He Shou Xin thought that the makeup artist Yang was making some sense. Song Shi Jie proposed to postpone the trial for three days. Yang Ming felt a bit panicked as Song Shi Jie seemed to have no evidence left and wanted to buy more time.
Song Shi Jie and Song A Jiu wanted to find evidence, so they ended up at the Lin residence again, wanting to check where Miss Lin lived. Song Shi Jie smelled a musty odor on the bride's clothes. Song Shi Jie believed that in most cases, people lose their rationality after being impulsive. While speaking, he continued to search for evidence and suddenly found a women's shoe in a haystack.
Song Shi Jie felt that they had found the evidence now. Yang Ming told everyone that based on his many years of experience, the case might be solved in three days. Tang Wenwu appeared very happy upon hearing this.
