Episode 9 recap: "Song Shi Jie's Cherry Case."
He Shou Xin advises his brother, Song Shi Jie, not to help Cherry with the lawsuit because all the evidence points to Cherry as the possible murderer, and Ling Long also thinks so. That's the reason. Song A Jiu also believes that Cherry doesn't have much money.Song Shi Jie goes to the prison to see Cherry and asks her why she wants him to solve the case for her. Cherry tells Song Shi Jie that he is handsome and charming, and she can fulfill his needs other than money.
Song Shi Jie sees an item placed by Cherry's bed and tells her that even though he doesn't know who the real culprit is, he will uncover the truth and clear Cherry's name. Yang Liu returns home and finds everything in ruins, destroyed by a fire. He goes to the swing and reminisces about the moments when he used to push his daughter and hold his son, feeling a bit melancholic.
Boss Yang gives names to his wife and son and establishes grave markers. Song Shi Jie accidentally learns that Song A Jiu actually knows Cherry. Yang Liu tells He Shou Xin that he has no recollection of what happened that day. When Cherry hears Yang Liu saying that they only had a master-servant relationship, she becomes angry and tells He Shou Xin that Yang Liu might be the one who started the fire.
Song Shi Jie wants to help Yang Liu make a big profit while uncovering the truth. He goes to Yang Liu's previous residence, quite far away, and observes sulfur around. With Song A Jiu's hint, Song Shi Jie discovers bloodstains on a table. Song A Jiu thinks Song Shi Jie has gone mad and pushes him, causing Song Shi Jie to laugh uncontrollably as if he has discovered something.
Song Shi Jie wants to examine Cherry's injuries. Nian Shan Shan tells everyone that Cherry might have had a conflict with someone else before getting those scratches. Song Shi Jie visits Yang Liu again to inquire about the situation. Kuo Shao Hu's brothers tell Song Shi Jie that after eating a bowl of noodles on the street, Cherry had an argument with a scholar and got into a fight with some elderly ladies.
Yang Liu knows the truth and feels the need to find it for the sake of his wife and children. Song Shi Jie looks at the map and realizes that being present in three different places simultaneously would require exceptional speed, unless there are three Cherrys in the world.
Either Cherry is better at light skills than Ling Long, or these three witnesses must be lying. Song Shi Jie has another dream where he sees his father continuously spewing fire. Song Shi Jie doesn't understand the meaning of this and doesn't know what it signifies.
He Shou Xin is a bit puzzled. These three individuals have no direct connection, so why would they fabricate lies to deceive themselves? Song Shi Jie believes that there must be some significant relationship between Cherry and them, otherwise they wouldn't deceive them like this. Kuo Shao Hu and his brothers are happy to be summoned to court.
After the three brothers have recounted all the clues they know, He Shou Xin quickly determines that they are lying. Although He Shou Xin finds the three brothers noisy, he doesn't think they are all lying. Song Shi Jie believes that the less involved in a love affair, the closer to the truth. So he secretly opens Yang Liu's wife and children's graves without informing Yang Liu.

Song Shi Jie discreetly follows Ling Long to an inn and discovers that she seems to be negotiating with someone, which makes him feel a bit jealous. Nian Shan Shan finds it strange to see Song Shi Jie acting so suspiciously there.
Nian Shan Shan tells Song Shi Jie that she can put Yang Liu into a deep sleep state to uncover the truth. Song Shi Jie takes a pharmaceutical adhesive and decides that he needs a relaxed environment to carry out this method, so he wants to find a highly suitable person. He decides to try it on his wife, Ling Long.
Ling Long gets a bit angry when she sees Nian Shan Shan in her house. Song Shi Jie intentionally keeps things vague and asks Ling Long to lie down and relax for the experiment. Nian Shan Shan hypnotizes Ling Long. She notices that Song Shi Jie keeps asking strange questions and quickly brings the conversation back on track.
Song Shi Jie hears that Ling Long likes him in her heart, which inexplicably makes him happy. Nian Shan Shan is a bit puzzled by the questions Song Shi Jie is asking and wakes Ling Long up. Song Shi Jie decides to conduct the hypnosis experiment with Cherry tomorrow.
