Episode 13 recap: Ren Shu bumped into her fiancé, Seventeenth Lord.
Ren Shu said her true love must be a handsome man, riding a tall horse, slowly approaching her. Just as she finished speaking, at that moment, the prince arrived at the Li residence on horseback, instantly captivating Ren Shu. He told them that he had been engaged to a princess from the Western Regions, but unfortunately, the princess ran away halfway. He had been searching for her, demanding compensation. He could bring back the jade pendant as compensation. Fan Zhong Ju became agitated upon hearing this. It turned out that the jade pendant referred to the piece of jade given as an engagement gift back then.
Ren Shu had predicted that her true love would be someone who rode a tall horse with a majestic appearance, embodying the free and unrestrained life she longed for. If she hadn't run away from her wedding, how could she have such a contented life? She wasn't someone who judged based on appearances; she wanted to choose her own husband. The golden boy and jade girl here referred to Gu Chuan and Xie Quan Jia, but the couple she divined was another pair. She couldn't think of who it could be.
Seventeenth Lord is the man Ren Shu ran away from. She hurriedly went outside to sneak a peek at him, the husband she had evaded. At that moment, Seventeenth Lord rode a tall horse and slowly arrived at the Li residence. Ren Shu fell in love with him at first sight, but her appearance was mistaken by the young prince as that of an older woman. The young prince asked for Fan Zhong Ju's autograph. The young prince had come specifically to find his fiancée, although he didn't find her. Along the way, he enjoyed the scenery and didn't want a wife with a bad reputation and a fiery temper like the Western Regions princess. However, his father promised that if both parties didn't agree, they wouldn't be forced into marriage to preserve the harmony between the two countries. But he must retrieve his jade pendant, which was given as an engagement gift to the Western Regions. Fan Zhong Ju looked at the jade pendant hanging from his waist, which matched the one held by the young prince. He looked at the jade pendant. Ren Shu hastily claimed that she had stolen the princess's dowry and asked for punishment through the jade pendant.
Everyone couldn't help but guess that the princess was the owner of the jade pendant. The young prince's expression changed when he looked at the jade pendant. Fan Zhong Ju stood by, heartbroken, unaware that his beloved was the princess of the Western Regions, while Ren Shu refused to admit her true identity and pressed her against the jade pendant. That night, the young prince interrogated the ancestors of the Li family to gather information about the princess. In her room, jade pendant told Ren Shu that she hoped the princess would announce her own identity. After all, the young prince was very good-looking, and she had to face her own situation. However, Ren Shu felt that her appearance didn't match the young prince's.
The young prince sought advice from Gu Chuan on how to make the princess willingly marry him. Gu Chuan proudly told him that if he wanted to win the lady's favor, he had to appear in front of her frequently and give her gifts to make her dependent on him. Depressed, Fan Zhong Ju drank and reminisced about his time with the princess. At that moment, the princess approached him for a chat, and Fan Zhong Ju immediately saluted her. The princess originally wanted to enjoy the moon with Fan Zhong Ju but was pulled away by the young prince.
The next day, Ren Shu took Yu Huan for a stroll, rewarding her for accompanying the young prince to admire the moon. Unexpectedly, the young prince appeared in the shop and bought everything to give to Yu Huan. Seeing that these items were too ordinary, he decided to give Yu Huan the package brought as a tribute from a foreign country. He wanted to constantly shower Yu Huan with precious gifts to show his affection for her.
When Yu Huan returned home, she would occasionally look at the courtyard in search of Fan Zhong Ju. But by then, the house had been transformed into a garden with flowers sent by the young prince. He sincerely confessed his feelings to Yu Huan and gave her the most cherished doll of Shangguan Buqun, which he had purchased at a high price from Gu Chuan. It was apparent to everyone that the doll "Xie Quan Jia" was privately kept by Gu Chuan and only "Shangguan Buqun" was sold, indicating his interest in Xie Quan Jia.
Ren Shu had escaped from her fate with great difficulty. She had escaped from her predestined path. Last time, when she divined, she knew that Yu Huan could still be herself. After all, she deserved freedom. Ren Shu apologized to Yu Huan and revealed that she should have taken on the identity of the princess. The young prince thanked Gu Chuan, who had been misunderstood by Xie Quan Jia for keeping the "Xie Quan Jia" doll to harm him. To help the young prince win over Yu Huan, Gu Chuan taught him a trick: to be persistent and shameless.
That night, Ren Shu sought out Fan Zhong Ju and asked him if he liked Yu Huan. She told him that if he didn't pursue her, he had zero chance. Fan Zhong Ju gathered his courage and confessed his feelings to Yu Huan, not wanting to regret it even if he was just an unsuccessful scholar. At that moment, the young prince arrived again with gifts. But Yu Huan directly rejected the young prince, stating that she wanted to make her own choice and had already found the one she loved. She then slowly approached Fan Zhong Ju and told him that he was her choice. The two held hands and left, leaving Ren Shu feeling relieved that Yu Huan had finally chosen true love.
Ren Shu revealed to the young prince that she was the princess, and he immediately proposed to her. However, Ren Shu felt that he had changed his mind too quickly and rejected him outright. Yu Huan and Fan Zhong Ju enjoyed the moon together in the courtyard, their laughter and conversation making Xie Quan Jia envious. The next day, everyone learned that Ren Shu was the true princess, and they immediately felt that this was the perfect ending. Yu Huan had found true love.
At this moment, the young prince came to settle the score with Ren Shu, using the same pursuit tactics he had used on Yu Huan, but this time on Ren Shu.
