Episode 3 recap: Shang Guan Gu Chuan dressed as a ghost and scared everyone.

Shang Guan Gu Chuan dressed as a ghost and scared everyone.Xie Quan Jia decided to rent out the house and, with the help of everyone, cleaned it up. After a busy day, the house finally looked like a home. The next day, Guo Dong Li (played by Zong Jun Tao) came to Li's house and proposed to turn it into a stylish inn in partnership with Xie Quan Jia.

In order to achieve a win-win situation, he pointed out the shortcomings of the courtyard one by one. However, due to the language barrier, Xie Quan Jia brought in a translator, a princess from the Western Regions. But even she couldn't understand. So, Shang Guan Gu Chuan was called in as a translator. Guo Dong Li recognized him as the son of an acquaintance and praised his intelligence, saying that he had been writing poetry since the age of three and doing accounting since the age of seven. It turned out that Guo Dong Li had a case when he was fourteen, and at that time, he was working for the Shang Guan family. It was Shang Guan Gu Chuan who took the blame for the case and got fired. Guo Dong Li flattered him, saying that it was fortunate that Gu Chuan got fired, which led to their meeting today.

At this point, Guo Dong Li mentioned that there was a school opposite Li's house. As long as Li gave lectures there, the area would become lively. This idea immediately caught Gu Chuan's interest. He secretly sold the house to Guo Dong Li, received a deposit in advance, and promised to give him the title deed.

Later, Gu Chuan, posing as a creditor, tried to drive away the princess. However, the princess agreed to rent a larger room at a higher rent. This bargaining allowed Xie Quan Jia to earn more rent. That night, in order to prove the accuracy of fortune-telling, the princess predicted that Fan Zhong Ju would not be chosen. Guo Dong Li suggested to Gu Chuan that they should use money to acquire Xie Quan Jia directly, while Gu Chuan wanted to use emotions to get the title deed back and asked for Guo Dong Li's cooperation.

Guo Dong Li moved into Li's house and treated everyone to a hot pot. Originally, Gu Chuan planned to take advantage of Guo Dong Li's absence to steal the title deed from Xie Quan Jia's room. However, he accidentally got injured by a trap inside the room. Guo Dong Li, taking advantage of Gu Chuan's failure, hosted another banquet. Guo Dong Li had to use the excuse of celebrating his new home for seven days to invite everyone again.

On the other side, Gu Chuan came again limping. Afterwards, he claimed that he had successfully entered Xie Quan Jia's room, but although he passed the first trap, he couldn't avoid the second one. In order to obtain the title deed, Guo Dong Li organized another celebration for the fourteenth day of moving in. The others didn't want to eat hot pot again, so Guo Dong Li changed the menu to vegetarian dishes. However, Gu Chuan didn't attend the banquet. At that time, Liu Lang went to the bathroom and accidentally encountered the masked Gu Chuan. Just as Gu Chuan was about to leave upon seeing Liu Lang, he noticed that Liu Lang fainted.

Later, Liu Lang told everyone that he saw a ghost resembling an eggplant, but no one believed him. The princess was scared and wanted to sleep with Xie Quan Jia. That night, the princess saw a shadow outside the window and the door was blown open by the wind. When Xie Quan Jia went to close the door, he found that Fan Zhong Ju had come to catch the ghost.

The next day, Guo Dong Li was impressed by Gu Chuan's ghost act, and Gu Chuan decided to scare everyone away using the ghost persona to reclaim the house. Xie Quan Jia, as the landlord, promised to protect everyone. Gu Chuan lied and claimed that he had seen a ghost, analyzing that the ghost was only interested in women. Xie Quan Jia believed him, thinking that as a member of the Shang Guan family, he would not dress up as a ghost just for a few thousand guan, as it would tarnish the family's reputation.

Xie Quan Jia insisted on seeing the ghost and proposed that they sleep during the day and wait for the ghost together at night. In order to obtain the title deed, Gu Chuan decided to scare Xie Quan Jia first, assuring her that he would conquer her that night. The maidservant read Fan Zhong Ju's poems and felt that they were far inferior to Li Tu's literary skills.

Xie Quan Jia was excited to see the ghost and wanted to ask if the ghost had seen her mother. If there really were ghosts, she would be even happier, as it would mean her mother was still alive in another world. Guo Dong Li watched as Gu Chuan floated past him from behind and screamed in fear. Gu Chuan took the opportunity to scare Xie Quan Jia, and the princess pulled her away to protect her, leaving Xie Quan Jia deeply moved.

At that moment, another ghost, a black one, appeared. The white ghost played by Gu Chuan was frightened and fled, while Fan Zhong Ju attempted to capture the ghost. During the scuffle, Gu Chuan's identity as the white ghost was exposed, and he pretended to faint, later claiming to have a sleepwalking condition. It turned out that Xie Quan Jia intentionally had Liu Lang dress up as a ghost to scare Gu Chuan. Finally, Gu Chuan revealed that he was there to collect debts and to protect Xie Quan Jia. He sold the house to ensure a good price and to give her a peaceful life.

Xie Quan Jia had already mortgaged the house for 2,500 guan and settled the debt with Gu Chuan. She chose not to sell the house because she didn't want everyone to be displaced.
