Episode 1 recap: Yin Ruoshui and the Southern Border Kingdom have been tormented.
The battlefield is filled with rivers of blood, and the general's sword is stained with fresh blood, while under his feet lie the bodies of countless enemy soldiers. At night, the princess consort of the Southern Border Kingdom, Yin Ruoshui, guards an empty room alone. In her hands, she holds a token given to her by the prince, her mind filled with various thoughts. She had saved the prince who was covered in wounds, and he promised to repay her soon.
At this moment, the prince's concubine, Nangong Xi, enters the room with the prince Yusheng, acting coy and dripping with sarcasm upon seeing Yin Ruoshui. In order to show off, Nangong Xi specifically tells the prince that his brother, Nangong Chao, has sent good news from the front line, claiming a great victory over the Yin Kingdom's army. Nangong Xi requests to engage in intimate activities with the princess consort right there, but Yin Ruoshui prepares to leave in order to avoid it. However, the prince coldly calls her back and orders her to stay by the bedside.
And it doesn't end there. In order to torment Yin Ruoshui, the prince tells her that he has a little surprise for her to celebrate her three years of marriage to the Southern Border Kingdom. In pouring rain, the prince mercilessly grabs Yin Ruoshui and takes her to the bodies of the fallen soldiers from the Yin Kingdom. She sees her familiar elder brother, who is also gravely injured and dead. Overwhelmed with emotions, Yin Ruoshui cries out and rushes forward, but she only manages to grab the token hanging from her brother's waist before being pulled back by the prince.
The prince, with a malicious look, tells Yin Ruoshui that this is just the beginning, and that her mother and father will also become his prisoners. Soon after, Yin Ruoshui is thrown into the dungeon.
