Episode 3 recap: Lin Cangwu rescued Yin Ruoshui.
Below the thousand-foot cliff is a bottomless abyss. Fortunately, Yin Ruoshui didn't fall deep into the water. She passed out and recalled what had happened to her before. As the princess of the Yin Kingdom, she was married off to the Southern Frontier Kingdom for a political alliance. The moment she saw Crown Prince Yuwen Sheng, she was overjoyed to discover that she was to marry him. However, the Crown Prince's attitude was cold, and by his side was the influential Southern Frontier General, Nangong Chao, and his sister, Nangong Xi, who was now the Crown Prince's concubine.
Taking advantage of her brother's power, Nangong Xi indulged in luxury and began tormenting Yin Ruoshui from the moment she stepped into the sedan chair. Consequently, Yin Ruoshui lived a life worse than death in the imperial palace of the Southern Frontier Kingdom. General Lin Cangwu, the commander of Liaocheng, passed by and discovered the barely alive Yin Ruoshui. He took her home and provided treatment.
Since Yin Ruoshui's disappearance, Crown Prince Yuwen Sheng became even more depressed. Holding onto the token, he constantly yearned for Yin Ruoshui, vowing to find her no matter where she was. Nangong Chao visited the Crown Prince's sleeping quarters, having heard that the Crown Prince was unwell. The Crown Prince told him not to worry and that his health was not a major concern, as he had military affairs to attend to. Nangong Chao bid farewell and ordered the eunuch guarding outside to closely monitor the every move of the Crown Prince and the Emperor.
