Episode 8 recap: The Crown Prince wounded Lin Cangwu and set a trap.
Lin Shunqin and Yin Ruoshui were walking by the river. Lin Shunqin mistook Yin Ruoshui for Lin Cangwu's ex-wife, Lengqiu. Just as she was about to push Yin Ruoshui into the river, the Crown Prince and Lin Cangwu returned on horseback and questioned why they were late in returning. Lin Shunqin had no choice but to take Yin Ruoshui back to the residence. Lin Cangwu apologized to Yin Ruoshui, but Yin Ruoshui blamed herself for not considering the situation properly and causing trouble for Lin Cangwu.
From this perspective, the Crown Prince is unlikely to leave the Lin residence anytime soon. Suddenly, Lin Cangwu felt dizzy, and Yin Ruoshui noticed the injury on his body. She knew it was caused by Yin's poison, a difficult poison to cure. The antidote could only be found with the Crown Prince because she was the one who provided it. Initially, when the Crown Prince was poisoned and hunted down to the Yin Kingdom, Yin Ruoshui happened to encounter him while gathering medicinal herbs. She saved the Crown Prince, but when the soldiers of the Yin Kingdom caught up with them, the Crown Prince fought them off with a jade flute, which broke in the process.
The Crown Prince kept the broken half of the jade flute and hurriedly left with Yin Ruoshui. When they parted ways, the Crown Prince gave the broken half of the jade flute to Yin Ruoshui and said that he would come to find her to repay the favor. Yin Ruoshui went to the Crown Prince's room to look for the antidote, and suddenly, the Crown Prince appeared and questioned who she really was. Yin Ruoshui insisted that she was the general's wife and wondered why the Crown Prince doubted her repeatedly. Unable to find any flaws, the Crown Prince let her go and also informed her that the paint on his sword was not Yin's poison.
