Episode 9 recap: The Crown Prince hosted a banquet to continue probing Yin Ruoshui.

Lin Shunqin pressured Lin Cangwu, asking who Yin Ruoshui really was and why she bore a striking resemblance to his deceased wife, Leng Qiu. Furthermore, she questioned why the Crown Prince had brought her to the Lin residence so abruptly. Lin Cangwu informed his sister that Yin Ruoshui was merely an old acquaintance of the Crown Prince's, and he himself wanted to help someone in need without any ulterior motives. He explained that he had unintentionally fulfilled her desire to resemble Leng Qiu when she had suffered facial injuries.

Upon hearing that Lin Cangwu had no intention of marrying Yin Ruoshui, Lin Shunqin felt relieved and declared that she would not allow anyone to harm him, including the Crown Prince. In order to further test Yin Ruoshui, the Crown Prince intentionally invited both Lin Cangwu and Yin Ruoshui to dine with him. He claimed it was his beloved consort's birthday and expressed his loneliness, not knowing where she was amidst the vast sea of people. Therefore, he wanted to share a small drink with General Lin and his wife.

During the banquet, the Crown Prince specifically served fish to Yin Ruoshui and mentioned that his beloved consort was allergic to fish. He stated that after consuming it, she would develop a rash all over her body within an hour. Pressured and left with no choice, Yin Ruoshui reluctantly picked up her chopsticks and had a bite of the fish, causing Lin Cangwu to worry about her wellbeing. Yin Ruoshui then suggested changing her clothes, but the Crown Prince forbade her from doing so. He announced that he had prepared a small gift for Lady Lin, a newly tailored dress, and insisted that she try it on right in front of him. Lin Cangwu objected, deeming it inappropriate, but the Crown Prince would not be swayed and ordered her to change in his presence. Helplessly, Yin Ruoshui slowly began to remove her clothes.
