Episode 2 recap: Hao Xin faced a female rival during the interview.
In the evening, Chairman Hao came to find Hao Xin. Hao Yun Lai asked Hao Xin if it was true that he didn't want to take over his position. Hao Xin expressed that he also wanted to start from scratch like his parents, as they had spent a lot of money to send him abroad for education. He didn't want to be a burden to his family. Hao Yun Lai felt warm-hearted after hearing this but mentioned that the company would need Hao Xin's help when necessary. Hao Xin agreed without a doubt. Hao Yun Lai admitted that he was getting old and, before leaving, reminded Hao Xin not to eat sugar before sleeping. Hao Xin agreed verbally, but as soon as Hao Yun Lai left, he continued eating sugar.
Jin Ying Jie returned to her room early after a tiring day, but she forgot to bring her phone inside as it was still in her backpack. While her parents were chatting, the phone suddenly rang. Jin Ying Jie's mother didn't want to disturb her sleep and intended to answer the call on her behalf, but the other person hung up.
Hao Yun Lai came out and saw Guihua sitting in the living room, upset and not sleeping. Upon asking, Hao Yun Lai learned that it was because Hao Mei was being bullied on the set. Guihua wanted to make a phone call to gather people, but the landline had no sound. Hao Yun Lai quickly reconnected the telephone line that he had just unplugged. Guihua then called Yingchun and asked why the crew had arranged for Hao Mei to be a stand-in for the female lead and now she had been fired. Guihua demanded that the crew assign Hao Mei to work alongside the female lead, with the condition that she would be responsible for the entire crew's costumes and meals.
Meanwhile, Jin Ying Jie's parents discovered a message on Jin Ying Jie's phone. It turned out to be a message from her taekwondo coach regarding the refund of class fees, which mentioned Jin Ying Jie being dismissed. Now both parents realized that Jin Ying Jie had deceived them. Jin Ying Jie's mother decided to call a captain she knew, hoping that he could arrange a role for Jin Ying Jie on the set. After all, Jin Ying Jie had already been unemployed three times, and further setbacks might affect her confidence.
The next morning, Hao Xin went out early for a job interview, and Jin Ying Jie received a call from the director inviting her for an audition. Jin Ying Jie was very happy, and even while talking to her mother, she sounded much happier. Her mother pretended not to know anything and shared in Jin Ying Jie's joy. Hao Mei also prepared and went to the set. Seeing Hao Mei's happiness, Guihua also became happy and immediately suggested treating Yingchun to tea. While having breakfast together, Hao Yun Lai received a message from Secretary Yang saying, "Good morning, my husband." He was so startled that he spewed out his food. Guihua asked, and Hao Yun Lai simply said it was a harassing message.
Hao Xin went for an interview and entered an elevator with Li Li Li. Li Li Li recognized Hao Xin from the airport and Hao Xin thought the other person was also there for an interview. However, Li Li Li was arrogant, making Hao Xin suspect that they had connections. On his way to the company, Hao Yun Lai received another message from Secretary Yang. Hao Yun Lai openly warned her that if she continued to harass him, she would be fired. Hao Xin just received his registration form when he turned around and saw the person from the elevator entering the office. Hao Xin asked the staff why they went in, and they said the interview started as soon as she entered. Hao Xin expressed dissatisfaction as he thought he was ranked first.
On the other side, Jin Ying Jie and Hao Mei arrived at the filming crew one after another. Hao Xin's interview had already started, and it was only when Hao Xin entered that he realized the person was the interviewer. When Hao Yun Lai arrived at the company, Secretary Yang continued to harass him. Hao Yun Lai firmly rejected her, but he still needed her to communicate during the banquet with Hai Zhu Ren. Hao Xin was successfully accepted, and Jin Ying Jie encountered Hao Mei on the set. Seeing the assistant director's attitude towards Hao Mei, Hao Mei was curious about who brought Jin Ying Jie there. The assistant director said they didn't know and that it was the producer who informed them to come for an audition.
Hao Xin quickly picked up the camera, and after seeing the footage, Li Li Li commented that Hao Xin was indeed capable. Hao Xin also encountered an old man who fell in front of Jin Ying Jie's father's car. The old man's family thought someone had hit their elderly member's car, but luckily, Hao Xin recorded the whole incident, and later the old man woke up, and the misunderstanding was resolved. By the time Jin Ying Jie's mother arrived, Hao Xin had already left.
On the set, everyone recognized Jin Ying Jie's acting skills and believed she should play the second female lead. However, the captain arrived and informed them that the second female lead had to be Hao Mei, as per the investor's request. They would have to explain the situation to Jin Ying Jie's family, especially since Jin Ying Jie's mother used to be a pillar in the industry and sought their help. Jin Ying Jie, who overheard everything outside the door, voluntarily stated that she couldn't continue filming the later scenes.
Hao Xin was working outside when Li Li Li suddenly asked the secretary to call Hao Xin back. Hao Xin explained that he was currently working and couldn't go back.
