Episode 4 recap: Ye Ruyu entered the palace.
The two rebellious princes were locked up in prison, and Yu Wen Yuan came to visit them. The princes wondered if Yu Wen Yuan really dared to use excessive punishment against their own kin, completely disregarding the royal law. However, Yu Wen Yuan didn't take the princes' words to heart at all. He took out a knife, indicating that he had never had a good reputation.
Yu Wen Yingren met Su Yan, who felt that the current situation was all his fault. Yu Wen Yingren didn't blame Su Yan; she blamed herself for calling Yu Wen Yuan for help and protecting a child who had no blood relation with her.
Su Yan expressed gratitude for his sister's protection, otherwise he wouldn't have survived until now. Therefore, he wanted to live up to his sister's expectations. Yu Wen Yingren held Su Yan's hand and assured him that the situation would soon come to an end. Ye Ruyu, the daughter of the Duke of Lu, arrived. Yu Wen Yingren felt that Su Yan didn't need to meet her, but Su Yan reassured her not to worry.
Su Yan met Ye Ruyu and mentioned that the conditions here were simple and couldn't compare to what the Duke of Lu had prepared for her. Yu Wen Yuan also arrived, and Ye Ruyu stated that her father had sent her here to pledge her loyalty to Yu Wen Yuan. She believed that Yu Wen Yuan could seize the world, and they would do their best to help, but she had one condition—she wanted to become the empress.
Yu Wen Yuan held Su Yan's hand, but it seemed that all women were the same; they all wanted to become empress.
