Episode 17 recap: Unsent Love Letter
Zhou Fugui suddenly fell ill and was hospitalized. Wang Yutian went to visit him, wanting to know the reason, but Zhou Fugui was unwilling to say. Wang Yutian didn't delve deeper and was about to leave. Unexpectedly, Zhou Fugui deliberately held onto her, hoping to share his thoughts with someone. Several decades ago, Zhou Fugui left school to take a job at his father's steel factory. He wrote a love letter intending to give it to the most beautiful girl in the neighboring class. However, when she stood in front of him, he became timid and missed the opportunity. Forty years had passed, and he never expected to meet her again in his old age at the senior university. Zhou Fugui decided to give the love letter to her.
Wang Yutian didn't expect that Zhou Fugui had a secret crush on Yang Defu back then. Now, Yang Defu and her husband were living a happy life. Wang Yutian advised Zhou Fugui, who was divorced, not to cause any trouble. But Zhou Fugui only wanted to make up for the regrets of his youth because he was about to go to Shanghai to take care of his grandchildren. Zhou Fugui had a good opportunity to give the love letter, but when he saw Yang Defu, his heart raced, and he couldn't even approach her. He asked for Wang Yutian's help, but Wang Yutian refused to get involved. So he asked Ouyang for help instead. Ouyang had a bad memory and mistakenly dropped the love letter into the suggestion box. Zhou Fugui had a hard time retrieving the letter. When he wanted to give the love letter again, a female classmate misunderstood that it was written for her and forcefully took the letter away.
While the female classmate was leaning on the desk, Zhou Fugui contemplated snatching the love letter back. Unexpectedly, he overheard her saying that she finally received a love letter in her lifetime and had no regrets. So he withdrew his hand. Wang Yutian returned the love letter to Zhou Fugui and also arranged a meeting with Yang Defu. They talked about their youthful memories, but in the end, Zhou Fugui still didn't send the love letter. They bid each other farewell and wished each other well.
