Episode 12 recap: Liao Zhe confessed his feelings to Li Yi Jin and began pursuing her.
Early in the morning, Meng Wan Qing went to knock on Tao Shu Na's door but found out that Tao Shu Na had already left. She could only call Qiao Hai Yun to ask if Tao Shu Na went somewhere. Meng Wan Qing learned that Tao Shu Na was at Qiao Hai Yun's house, so she packed her things alone, prepared to divorce Tao Da Lei, and memories flooded her mind.
When Meng Wan Qing was young, in order to be with Tao Da Lei, she didn't seek Qiao Hai Yun's consent and got married to Tao Da Lei without completing her studies. Qiao Hai Yun went to the Civil Affairs Bureau to stop Meng Wan Qing, but Meng Wan Qing didn't listen. She believed that Qiao Hai Yun opposed the marriage because she thought Tao Da Lei was poor. So she didn't listen to Qiao Hai Yun's advice and insisted on marrying Tao Da Lei.
Tao Da Lei promised solemnly that he would make Meng Wan Qing live a good life after marriage. However, life after marriage turned out to be difficult, and she was also mistreated by her in-laws. Qiao Hai Yun felt sorry for her daughter and brought Meng Wan Qing back home. She asked Meng Wan Qing to find a job and work instead of crying all day, allowing Meng Wan Qing to return to her own life.
Thinking about her past grievances, Meng Wan Qing didn't want to tolerate Tao Da Lei anymore. Meanwhile, Tao Da Lei was still shouting from the next room, asking her to come and get dressed. As the Meng family was making a promise with linked fingers, Song Jun Fan came to pick up Meng Yi An and Qiu Qiu. Qiu Xia could only stand by the side and bid farewell to Qiu Qiu with reluctance. In the hospital parking lot, Qiu Xia saw Song Jun Fan taking Meng Yi An and Qiu Qiu away, and her heart was filled with mixed emotions. Memories began to flood back until Xiao Yao suddenly appeared, knocking on his car window and bringing him back to reality.
After Li Yi Jin vented her frustrations, Liao Zhe escorted her back home and invited her to go out together the next day. Li Yi Jin rejected Liao Zhe, but Liao Zhe directly confessed his feelings to her, expressing his liking for her and his intention to pursue her, telling her to do whatever she wants with him.
After saying this, Liao Zhe left, and Meng Ming Wei happened to see him. When they returned home, Meng Ming Wei interrogated Li Yi Jin, expressing disapproval of Liao Zhe because he believed someone who drives such a car is not a good person and didn't want Li Yi Jin to be with him.
Li Yi Jin didn't want to argue with Meng Ming Wei. Feeling disappointed, she went back to her room, only to receive a threatening message from Cui Bao Hui, which made her extremely angry.
Li Yi Jin didn't know what to do. She wanted to call Meng Yi An for advice, but Qiu Qiu kept bothering Meng Yi An on the other end of the phone, making it even more difficult for her to speak up.
Tao Shu Na returned home, and Tao Da Lei brought up Meng Wan Qing's intention to divorce, hoping that Tao Shu Na could help persuade her. However, Tao Shu Na didn't want to get involved and told them to make their own decision. Meng Wan Qing felt extremely disappointed as she watched Tao Shu Na leave, and at that moment, Meng Ming Wei called to ask about Liao Zhe's situation.
Meng Wan Qing didn't have the energy to talk to Meng Ming Wei for long. After exchanging a few casual words, she hung up the phone. Liao Zhe picked up Li Yi Jin and took her to work. Li Yi Jin wanted to refuse, but she couldn't resist and ended up getting into Liao Zhe's car. This action caught the attention of the people at the theater, and they started to speculate. Cui Bao Hui directly terminated the cooperation project with Li Yi Jin's band, asking her to hand over the project to Qian Li. Qian Li couldn't help but mock Li Yi Jin, which made Li Yi Jin very angry.
Tao Shu Na returned to Shanghai and went to the laboratory to conduct experiments. Zhang Xiaoyan came back and saw Tao Shu Na, hoping to have a chat with her and offer some advice. However, Tao Shu Na was particularly cold toward him. Tao Shu Na left the lab and ran into Li Yi Jin downstairs in the neighborhood. They started talking about Liao Zhe, but it escalated into an argument, causing a rift between the two sisters.
Feng Yan Yan learned that the collaboration project had been changed and called Li Yi Jin to question her, blaming her for never fighting for her own interests, which left her disappointed. Li Yi Jin was scolded by Feng Yan Yan and felt that she shouldn't be treated this way. She ran to a nearby convenience store to work on her own tasks, not wanting to live her life like Meng Ming Wei anymore.
Tao Shu Na was dancing joyfully in her room, causing a disturbance that annoyed Meng Ming Wei. They had a brief conversation. Tao Shu Na noticed that Meng Ming Wei had prepared Li Yi Jin's favorite fish, but since Li Yi Jin wasn't coming home, she had to go downstairs to find her.
Qiu Xia and Xiao Yao went to watch a movie, but Qiu Xia kept texting Meng Yi An about Qiu Qiu, which annoyed Xiao Yao. When Qiu Xia realized that Xiao Yao was upset, she promised to buy Xiao Yao a gift. Xiao Yao directly took Qiu Xia to a wedding dress shop.
Qiu Xia understood Xiao Yao's intentions, but as soon as he saw the wedding dress, he was reminded of the grandeur of his marriage to Meng Yi An, making it impossible for him to marry Xiao Yao. He had to change the subject and focus on choosing clothes instead. Xiao Yao understood Qiu Xia's feelings and didn't push him. Just then, she received a phone call and used it as an excuse to leave first.
