Episode 3 recap: Li Yi Jin encountered Tao Shu Na while renting a house.
Tao Shu Na was unhappy with what Liao Zhe said. In response, Liao Zhe revealed the news he had learned about Zhang Xiaoyan. Upon hearing this, Tao Shu Na became very happy and immediately took out her card to let Liao Zhe order whatever he wanted. Liao Zhe stated that he found out the residential area where Zhang Xiaoyan lived but did not obtain any substantial information for Tao Shu Na. Nevertheless, he impolitely took the card and went to place the order.
A new manager joined Li Yi Jin's company and bought a cup of coffee for each person as soon as they arrived. The manager was very polite to everyone and then explained that there would be changes in the company this year, requesting to have individual discussions with each person. As soon as the manager spoke, everyone became nervous. They realized that there might be layoffs in the company and started to worry.
Meng Ming Wei's neighbor came to deliver wedding candies, boasting that their daughter got married. Meng Ming Wei felt uncomfortable upon hearing this and had to rush to attend to her guests. After attending to the guests, Meng Ming Wei felt conflicted. She worried about Li Yi Jin, who was still working hard in Shanghai, but Li Yi Jin did not answer her calls, which made her very anxious.
Meng Ming Wei approached Meng Yi An to inquire about the situation, but Meng Yi An refused to say anything and only promised to take care of Li Yi Jin. Meng Ming Wei had no choice but to continue calling Li Yi Jin. The manager approached Li Yi Jin for a conversation and explained that the theater would implement a last-in-first-out policy this year, urging her to do well in the theater's projects.
Before the manager could finish speaking, Meng Ming Wei's phone kept ringing. Li Yi Jin had no choice but to answer the call first and then turn off her phone. Li Yi Jin did not want to be eliminated. She wanted to invite the famous Xiao Hongmei to perform in a children's play, but her colleagues found it very difficult and did not agree with her idea.
In the evening, Tao Shu Na obtained Zhang Xiaoyan's WeChat and contacted him incessantly. Upon confirming that Zhang Xiaoyan was returning to the country, she decided to move out of the dormitory. Tao Shu Na's roommate had to work overnight to write a paper, and Tao Shu Na couldn't sleep due to the noise. However, after learning about Zhang Xiaoyan's news, she didn't mind at all and decided to go out and rent a house.
Tao Shu Na told Meng Wan Qing about her plan to rent a house, and Meng Wan Qing immediately transferred 30,000 yuan to her. Tao Shu Na promptly contacted Meng Yi An, wanting to consult with him about the situation. It was already late when Li Yi Jin turned on her phone and answered Meng Ming Wei's call. Li Yi Jin didn't want to go back to being a teacher and refused to accept Meng Ming Wei's arrangement. So she went to find the manager, who was working overtime, to prepare for a challenging performance by Xiao Hongmei and decided to invite her to perform. The next day, Qian Li learned about Li Yi Jin's meeting with the manager and blamed Li Yi Jin for showing off, causing them to pale in front of the manager.
Meng Ming Wei went to find Aunt Zhang and brought her a bag of gifts. She talked about wanting Li Yi Jin to return to being a teacher and asked Aunt Zhang for help. Tao Shu Na approached Meng Yi An to discuss the matter of renting a house. Meng Yi An invited her and Li Yi Jin to have dinner together, but Li Yi Jin, unaware of the plan, ended up going to the hot pot restaurant she used to frequent with Zhou Dao.
Realizing her mistake, Li Yi Jin turned around to go back when she bumped into Zhou Dao, who was carrying a box of belongings after being laid off. Zhou Dao felt embarrassed upon seeing Li Yi Jin and hurriedly escaped. While Meng Yi An was on the phone, Tao Shu Na and Li Yi Jin chatted about their plans to rent a house and their respective romantic situations, expressing their opinions.
Tao Shu Na, in order to pursue Zhang Xiaoyan, decided to rent an apartment in the same residential area as him, hoping that he would break up with his girlfriend. On the other hand, Li Yi Jin wanted to rent a cheaper place for the time being. When Meng Yi An finished his phone call, he suggested that Li Yi Jin and Tao Shu Na become roommates. However, Li Yi Jin didn't want to live with Tao Shu Na and came up with an unreasonable excuse, almost being put in an awkward position by Tao Shu Na's questioning.
Meng Wan Qing went to Qiao Hai Yun's house for dinner and talked a lot about Tao Shu Na with Meng Ming Wei, letting Meng Ming Wei know that they have no secrets between them. During the meal, Meng Wan Qing received a message from Tao Shu Na about having dinner. To avoid embarrassment, Meng Ming Wei lied and claimed that Li Yi Jin had also informed her.
Feeling uncomfortable, Meng Ming Wei called Li Yi Jin again and blamed her for going to eat hot pot despite having a bad stomach, scolding her once more. Meng Yi An overheard the conversation between Li Yi Jin and Meng Ming Wei. Li Yi Jin mentioned that she didn't want to live with Tao Shu Na, fearing that Meng Ming Wei would compare them and find her lacking.
Meng Yi An encouraged Li Yi Jin, assuring her that she has her own strengths. However, Li Yi Jin still felt inferior and continued to refuse living with Tao Shu Na. Li Yi Jin went to the previous real estate agency to look for a house and accidentally found out that the rent for their previous place had already increased. Now she was looking for a similar-priced house, but there weren't many suitable options left.
The agent wanted to show her a north-facing house, but when Li Yi Jin was about to go see it, she ran into Tao Shu Na, who was also there to view the property. She couldn't avoid it and was dragged along by Tao Shu Na to see the house together. The agent introduced Tao Shu Na to a duplex apartment, which she was very satisfied with. She planned to split the rent with Li Yi Jin, but Li Yi Jin refused.
