Episode 2 recap: Ding Zhaozhao encountered Chu Bufan for the first time.
Chu Bufan covered Ding Zhaozhao's mouth, signaling her not to speak. Ding Zhaozhao found this man in front of her suspicious as well, but given the current situation, she remained silent. The killer clearly noticed someone intervening from behind the screen, so Ding Zhaozhao stepped forward to confront the enemy. Chu Bufan showed no intention of helping and even distanced himself from Ding Zhaozhao, taking advantage of the fight to search for something he wanted.
While Ding Zhaozhao was fighting with the other person, she noticed Chu Bufan secretly attempting to take the Night Pearl. She hurriedly tried to stop him, but inadvertently attracted the attention of others. Chu Bufan agreed to help Ding Zhaozhao with a task in exchange for ultimately reclaiming the jade pendant. Chu Bufan felt like he was listening to a joke, being pursued by everyone on the street, while Ding Zhaozhao wanted him to catch a fugitive.
Being constrained by others, Chu Bufan could only agree to Ding Zhaozhao's unreasonable request and assist her in investigating the case at the Zhao residence.
