Episode 16 recap: A Mei kidnapped the triplets and threatened Huang Zong Wei.
A Mei went to the convenience store run by Ye A Lan and asked for help to buy a pack of instant noodles, claiming that she didn't have any money. Ye A Lan, being kind-hearted, agreed without hesitation, which made A Mei feel grateful that Ye A Lan was the second person to be good to her. Huang Zong Wei's actions not only alarmed the police but also the entire Shan Yue region.
At this time, Huang Zong Wei wanted to return to his home country to rescue his son. A Sheng brought A Hui to Shan Yue, but when A Dong saw A Hui, he belittled him. It turned out that A Dong received a letter from an informant in China saying that A Hui had been turned by the police. Although A Sheng was willing to believe in A Hui, A Dong no longer trusted either of them. Furthermore, A Dong thought A Sheng had no value to exploit and had now brought an undercover police officer to Shan Yue.
A Dong forced A Hui to confess that he had been in contact with Tian Qing Shan via telegram and then shot him dead. He then killed A Sheng and A Qiang. Upon learning that A Sheng and the others had been killed, Huang Zong Wei remained calm and guessed that the Guangning police were not willing to let him go. However, A Dong believed that the Chinese police had no jurisdiction in Shan Yue and even if they came, he would receive advance notice and change his location.
A Dong assured Huang Zong Wei that the drugs would only be sold abroad, so he didn't need to worry about getting caught. A Dong sent a defiant telegram to Tian Qing Shan, informing him that the drug dealers A Sheng, A Hui, and A Qiang had all been executed. This made Tian Qing Shan even more enraged by A Dong and his associates' arrogance.
Duan Ming Hong and Zhao You Nan got married, and their colleagues at the police station came to celebrate. That year, the drugs produced by Huang Zong Wei caused a huge sensation worldwide. Interpol arrested thousands of drug trafficking organizations around the world, and all the leads pointed to the Shan Yue-based drug trafficking family of A Dong.
However, since Shan Yue was not a member of Interpol, they couldn't apprehend the criminal gang led by A Dong. Chinese anti-drug police cooperated with Interpol's investigation, and Chief Qi decided to station forces in Sanping to capture Huang Zong Wei as quickly as possible. Two years later, A Mei was released from prison, but she couldn't contact Huang Zong Wei. She remembered that Huang Zong Wei had once mentioned buying a storefront in Haining Xiangfu Lane, so she went there and found Ye A Lan running a small convenience store. A Mei bought a bucket of instant noodles from the store, and when Ye A Lan learned that A Mei had no money, she gave her the bucket of instant noodles.
Ye A Lan noticed that A Mei was facing difficulties in her life and offered to pay her a salary if she was willing to work in the store. A Mei gladly agreed. At the same time, the police also learned about Ye A Lan keeping A Mei as an employee in the store. Chief Qi analyzed that the best plan for now was to wait for the right opportunity. Although Zhao You Nan was nearing her due date, she still applied to go to Haining in order to get close to Ye A Lan and gather useful information.
The police received information that Zhong Shu had received a letter last year. They went to question Zhong Shu, but he denied that the letter was sent by A Long, casting doubt on his words. Taking advantage of Zhong Shu's inattentiveness, Duan Ming Hong secretly searched his room and found the letter and a bank passbook. It was discovered that Zhong Shu had received six million in drug money sent by A Long.
With the evidence now solid, Chief Qi ordered the arrest of Zhong Shu. A Mei purchased medication that caused vomiting and diarrhea and added it to the porridge that Ye A Lan consumed. As a result, Ye A Lan fell ill and went to the hospital for treatment, leaving A Mei to pick up the children from school. A Mei took the triplets away and left a letter for Ye A Lan, instructing her to contact Huang Zong Wei and hold him to his promise.
Ye A Lan, anxious about her kidnapped children, hurriedly sought help at the Xiao An store across the street. Huang Zong Wei learned about the message relayed by the Chinese police, informing him that his children had been kidnapped by A Mei. Huang Zong Wei wanted to return to China to save his sons, but A Dong naturally refused to let Huang Zong Wei go.
Huang Zong Wei now knew that A Dong saw him as a tool for drug production, and they got into an argument. Huang Zong Wei called Ye A Lan to confirm that their sons had indeed been kidnapped by A Mei and asked her not to report it to the police. He promised that he would return to China to rescue their children.
Huang Zong Wei knelt down and pleaded with A Dong for help. A Dong agreed to use all available domestic channels to help him rescue his son but demanded that Huang Zong Wei give up his wife, Ye A Lan.
